China Targets Financial Elites, Puts a Cap on Executives' Salaries | Vantage with Palki Sharma
China has ordered a fresh crackdown on its financial elites. It has decided to put a cap on their salaries. As per the new mandate, the executives won't be able to earn more than USD 400,000 annually. Reports say, this salary cap could be applied retrospectively. This move is believed to be a part of Xi Jinping's common prosperity programme. The Chinese President has pushed policymakers to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. But critics of the new policy say this could drive away talent from the financial sector. Palki Sharma tells you more.

This approach will be ineffective and will encourage laziness. A doctor working extensive hours will earn nearly the same as a cashier at a store. It will face significant backlash in the end. Essential workers will lack motivation to put in extra effort. Why would they? What's the benefit? Look at how the US has made people dependent by providing for all their needs, they no longer want to work.

Don't you wish all countries would control how capital has ruled over the poor. This would be implemented by other countries 5 years from now just like all controls China has put in have been adopted by certain western countries including the US. Also China assistance to green tech now also copied by western countries but just under different names like the US Inflation Reduction Act

What about the control of poor Indians' salaries by the rich? Many poor Indian workers cannot even afford three meals a day, and numerous children cannot afford to go to school, more often poor Indians have been abused by the owners.

Placing a salary cap on executives working in public funded institutions makes sense. This is tax payer's money which is funding these companies. Why shouldn't the government decide on remuneration? This is equivalent to the board of a company placing a salary cap for their CEO. Also, wealth redistribution makes sense. What is the point of having a few billionaires who're hoarding all the money while the rest of society can barely afford basic sustenance? Unfettered capitalism is immoral and inhuman. A good example is the United States where you have millions of destitute people living in the most prosperous nation on the planet. These people suffer from homelessness, drug addiction, suicides and extreme violence (the majority of gun-related crimes are in the poorest areas of the country). India is another example of this. If you cannot use the wealth of a nation to support vulnerable members of society, what is the purpose of the wealth?
