Hi Joe. Nice video and very nice build. Those wheels really seem top notch. Curious to see what are you trying next, as I can see many really exiting things coming out of China these days. With so many people having issues with the word "affordable" - which is definitely a subjective concept - I guess no one can argue it's not super "competitive". Cheers

Great bike and channe! I just built a lesser but still very good bike. Airwolf YFR001 frame, Airwolf wheels, bars and stem. Swapped over an Ultegra 8020 group set bought in 2017. Comes in at a bit over 7.7 kilos before going tubeless. Not counting th e groupset but w a used Stages non drive power meter about $1500 USD. It was a pain in the ass to build but well worth the wait and frustration. My third charbon bike, i named it "DaPhuc" and custom made vinyl graphics for it!

You can get this frame directly from the manufacturer and another brand. Does Tavelo do any extra qc or anything? Sidenote, I think the T1500 downtube shape is horrific for aerodynamics and I wanna do some cfd analysis. I'm gonna try and do something with the pictures online to get something close. Don't think you could get me a 3d model of the frame could you? 😁
@ChinaCycling

Not sure if the frame you're talking about is the actual same frame. 🙈 As I said in part 1, there are a few brands who use this frame overseas, but AFAIK they're all selling it for more, not less. As for the T1500, sorry, I don't have any of their stuff.

I am curious what’s the weight of the frame. The link you reference that shows the details of each product is not showing anywhere. I heard your claim that bike is about 1kg lighter than any of pro’s in world tour are racing. Bike is light because you have supper light components. Any of the world tour bikes with components hanging on this bike would bring down the weight to about or under 6.

Heavier guys can change the handlebar to the Farsports F1S, change the saddle to something padded, the CRW wheels are fine upto 100kg. If you're at / close to 100kg, maybe switch to the SCOM wheels (stiffest wheels I"ve tested on my rig.) Everything else should be fine.

Yeah... I don't know what word to use. The price is there in the thumbnail so everyone can judge for themselves (so it's not misleading) but an equivalent performance big brand bike would be like $10,000 - so... "afordable-er" ?
@top_banana

Affordable for who. When people say affordable, it usually means general population not the rich. The general population can not afford to spend $6,000 on a bicycle. They would be more like $1000 or less.

I get it. Everything is relative though right. You can have an "affordable supercar." or an "affordable house." This is the most affordable way I could build a sub 6kg, high performance, hydraulic disc brake road bike. Anyway the price is clearly in the thumbnail so it's hardly like it's clickbait.

I think @chinacycling made it pretty clear in pt. 1 - this is affordable compared to a high-end Western build (about half the price of the likes of an SL8 to get this weight.) He never claimed to be reviewing a Walmart bike, this was always an attempt to get to a super low weight with as little money as possible. Do you care to actually watch and understand the context or are you just here to grandstand? Don’t blast a solid creator when you don’t understand the premise - that’s just disingenuous.

"Affordable" is certainly relative. This outperforms many ~$12,000 bikes, so in that context, it's a bargain. I'm currently working on a build that is around a third of this price, so, don't worry, haven't lose my ways.

@@Evaso_CC But how many of us think about a $6k bike as affordable? I saw one comment that said that would be 6 years of saving. Also, if I were ever going to spend that much on a bike, which I never would because the bike makes almost no difference, I would buy something from my local bike shop simply for any warranty issues. I ride Chinese wheels currently, a set of 38mm SuperTeam carbon wheels that I love. But they were $274 on sale on Amazon about 5 years ago. $6k? Does anyone believe that bike will make them a super climber if they’re not already? It’s not the bike, it will never be the bike.
@ChinaCycling
@ChinaCycling 9 ай бұрын
I hear you loud and clear. I like to do the whole spectrum. So a $6k bike that can go head to head with a $12k bike. $1k wheels that can go head to head with $3k wheels, etc, etc. I also buy 2nd hand bikes and they're the best bang for your buck you can get, but there's only so many times you can make a video telling people to go buy a 2nd hand rim brake road bike. (Well, unless you're Durianrider, then you can make one every week.) Anyhoo, there's a very cheap alloy build coming on the channel soon...so, don't worry. ;)

@@ChinaCycling Now you sound like my wife. “Honey, I saved us $4,000 today! I bought a $10,000 dress for $6,000. You can use semantics all you want, $6,000 is not an affordable bike, and as long as bike channels keep pushing the idea that they are, bike manufacturers are going to get away with charging way too much for their product. The idea is to get as many people riding as possible. Most people hear $6,000 is affordable and they take up running or swimming. And you don’t need to push second hand bikes to find value, so that’s just a copout, and it also looks bad to bad mouth another channel. Unsubscribe.
