Hi! As a fellow chin mom, and a veterinarian that works with small animals/exotics, I would recommend removing the shavings. The oils can lead to respiratory and ocular irritations, inflammation, infection. Something like Carefresh would be a safer choice. Also, I very much enjoy your adorable crew!

People have no clue how much money you have in this set up. Critter nation cages??? All this wood ledges and obstacles, baths, beds, the wheels running $100-$120 each. It adds up fast. When we call them our fur babies it’s because they cost as much as a child when you give them the best. Though after initial investment they are reasonable to keep. Till there is a vet emergency 😱 you think that wheel is expensive till you have a chin almost loose a finger in a plastic one. Pay now or pay later. Your chins will suffer the consequences if you scrooge scrimp on quality.
