I ordered a 3 point pto wood chipper / mulcher online to chip up some cedar I had on a few acres. I looked around and most of the lower priced, and even most of the higher priced chippers were all from china and all pretty much the same chippers with different stickers on them.
I ended up getting an 8 inch chipper so I was not just chipping limbs and small branches. Overall it was great. The assembly was a pain and the instructions I could find were horrible, but I assume most people could assemble it without the instructions anyway.
I chipped all of my cedar except for the stumps and it did great. Sadly, I did not take videos of the cedar chipping. I was in a hurry to get it done and completely forgot. I added some test footage through so you can see it run and chip.

Glad to see that it worked out for you! Always a risk with this Chinese stuff.

That's a good alternative to buying a used chipper like I did.

It's been a couple of years since you did the video, how has the chipper after a few uses. How hard is it to sharpen the blades? Any major repairs? Have a nice day.

It was great all the way to the point of me selling it. I got all the use out of it I needed and then I let it go to a better home. I never had to sharpen the blades, and they are double sided so you can just flip them when one side gets dull. Then only thing I did to it was remove the cabled safety peddle because it was always in the way and somewhat of a pain. I would buy it again if I needed one.

I just saw a John Deere 5" PTO 540 rpm at $8,500. Yikes.

Yeah. Anything name brand is going to be expensive. And green gets REALLY expensive.

@@SeidelRanch It's rough. I only have 5 acres ànd had all the land cleared at one time. Then I let the trees and stuff populate and now I have a jungle.. A mess to be honest. I was thinking about the Ventrac 4520 with 5 implements to clear it properly. But that would be close to $50,000. At 67, I would have to go in business again just to make the payments and justify the big purchase. Do you get my nutty drift? Then I thought about renting. Maybe another nightmare if something fouls up. What do you think?

@@ArtOfHealth Those Ventracs are pretty cool, but pricey. What about a smaller older used tractor and a PTO chipper? Even an old Ford 8n would probably run one like this. I understand the business path. That would save you some but it would still be a big investment. Let me know what you decide. Good luck.

@@SeidelRanch Thank you. That is a thought. My neighbor bought an 8N and it had so many issues. Parts were hard to find or non-existent. Poor guy bought a new John Deere 5065 and then the implements. Nice but tears the heck out of our lawns. I will try and keep you posted. Keep up the good work for the men and women that need help.

@@ArtOfHealth Thank you. Yeah, an 8n is really old and many have been worn out. Prices are crazy right now so no matter what you get it will wear out the wallet. Good luck.
