Would be even better if no elastic bands were used. Elastic bands havent been around that long, they were never a part of any ancient or traditional hairstyle. The closest thing to them were strands of arn/thread, ribbon cloth, or dried strips of animal tendons. Hence why even for tv, when thy are doing a scene where the woman takes he hair down, the entire design is held together and up by a singular hairpin. The hairpins and decorative comb pieces did the work, not the elastic
