I work in a buffet restaurant and there is nothing wrong with them, eat all they want but just don't waste the food. I would rather have them eating up all the food rather than having an empty buffet restaurant and throwing all the food the next day.

At least they didn't waste anything and actually ate lol. I'm sure the staff especially the cooks appreciated that. And as a dishwasher I like the fact that they cleared the plates and bowls, that really helps honestly lol.

I'm pretty sure the restaurant got a huge loss from this. This is how you actually get full advantage of a buffet. Not picking a cheap meal then can't eat anymore after 1 plate. Avoid getting noodles and rice at buffet those are distraction to make you full.

I think it's nobody is really at fault there, they ate all of what they ordered, they paid for it...but the issue of the 2 hour time limit not being brought up by the staff even before the client's took their first bite is their own undoing. I hope they get paid properly for their overtime cleaning up all of those residuals.

That's the problem when you don't enforce a time limit on the buffet sitting. Many restaurants have a 1.5 - 2.0 hour limit on consumption.

Yikes. I reckon these guys completely destroyed the toilet that night. As someone who dislikes durian in a household of durian lovers, I’ve witnessed the aftermath of a durian feast. I swear the scent lingers for hours 😭 My heart goest out to their families who had to use the same facilities as they did that night.

And the way they took and ate immediately what's cooked, can be inconvenience for others who dine too, tho technically it's first come first serve at these buffets, but he was basically gatekeeping there. So in all, if you ignore the past 2 hours time limit, they are just shamelessly greedy.

Completely fine as long as they are not wasting food and not disturbing other diners/causing a ruckus. Judging by the video, they seem very civil and it's not a crime to be big eaters. As far as the time limit goes, it's definitely the restaurant's fault for not enforcing it. They could've always double charged the customers if they feel wronged.

Let me settle this once and for all. “All you can eat” is a business strategy that comes with risk. The restaurant owner knows it, they didn’t enforce the rule, that’s their issue. If things were so straightforward, I’m sure more restaurants are even more keen to operate as all you can eat.

They did nothing wrong. They played the system to it's fullest. How is "taking advantage" of an ALL YOU CAN EAT bufet wrong? They ate all the food, its not like they wasted it. Yes they stayed over time limit, but they were not asked to leave and it's possible they were not aware of the time limit. That being said, there was no limit on how much food you can eat.

Well I can appreciate the fact they did not waste any food like what we've seen with other "Chinese tourist" videos and they are at the buffet, the objective is to eat or beat it and they seem to have beaten it and I can respect that.

Nothing is wrong with this, unless they'd be doing this on a daily then its a different story. They didnt waste any food and that was totally fine. They did take advantage of their money, not at the expense of the restaurant because that was exactly the nature of their business

That’s why no all you can eat buffet restaurants in Europe want Chinese tourists anywhere near their restaurant. I was in Italy once & I saw the restaurant manager refuse service to a group of Chinese tourists. I asked the waiter & he said that group will finish the whole buffet if they’re allowed in & none of the restaurants will allow them in.

That’s why more and more buffet restaurants start setting up time limits

To be honest I think nothing is wrong with them except the part where they stayed longer than the limit.

It's the owner's fault for being so understaffed that they were too busy to see this much food getting eaten. They paid for their meals, if anything they might owe another $23 since they stayed for 2 dinner time slots but paid for only 1 time slot. Beyond that these customers didn't do anything wrong, there are assumed risks in all businesses and as buffet owner this is one you have to account for.

You may have the right to eat so much but this is just bad attitude and selfishness, reflecting badly on these individuals. Greed and self entitlement. They should be blacklisted. The fault is also the restaurant for not enforcing the time limit. For expensive items (like crab) there should be restrictions per person throughout the meal.

Look at how lethargic they are. They were obviously forcing themselves to eat as much as possible. They would of also known about the 2 hour limit but continued on for 4 hours.They were being greedy. Also eating like this is uncomfortable and you cannot properly enjoy the food.

That is how you actualize living in excess. Everything excessive turns out bad, bad for business and bad for health of the customers. There is an unspoken etiquette when you go to a buffet regardless if you pay for it or you were invited as a guest in a party. What would other people think of you? Your parents or you don't feed yourself well and you ended up grabbing food and not giving other customers or guests the chance to try the food you are consistently grabbing and munching? Why is the management not imposing their rules? Is the management/ event organizers allowing such unruly behavior inside the establishment? I don't see the need to pose such thing. If you cheated a system, you don't need to brag the whole world what you did. It's enough those people were able to maximize the worth of the services they paid for.

As someone who worked in a buffet restaurant, about a dozen of Chinese tourist ended up wasting food. So we just gave up and charge them 30% more if they couldn't finished what they took.

no such thing as eating too excessively in an all you can eat buffet. besides, the buffet probably made more than enough from the other customers. the best you can do at this point is not serve them again in the future.
