If I were sitting on the Committee deciding whether to allow him to return to mainland China, I would say a firm NO. His heart was never with the motherland at all; I was once given opportunity to take up USA citizenship, but I packed up & left. Just a gut feeling back then but it was the best decision I ever made.

So you went back to China that is your right to do so, for you is was a good decision, how ever I have a large number or Chinese friends that never want to go back to China and what to live in the USA, my Chinese wife because of her large family in China has stayed with her green card even though she could become a USA citizen right now, we maintain a million dollar house in China, we sold the second in China that we owned. My Chinese daughter never want to live in China she is 24 and already extremely wealthy, she brilliant. I am happy for you, personally I can live in either place I like China and have many friend as well as family there. I just came from China last fall we were there for almost 2 months. Now I will tell you the same thing I told Jerry; you need to stop being a criminal, it is against the law to be on KZfaq, a google product, face book and X Aka Twitter as well as Instagram i n China. You have no respect for the rule of law in China. When in Rome do as the Romans do, if you can't do as the Romans do then don't go to Rome. I never break the laws in Countries I visit or live in. Stop being a criminal.

Hi Jerry, I don’t think Sun worth any help from either Chinese government or Chinese people. He actually owed Chinese government the money that was spent on his study in the USA. He was supposed to come back to serve the country after his studies in America, because this was Taxpayer money. Chinese hearts are kind and warm, but we don’t want to waste our emotions on helping anybody who is ice-cold to his family and his motherland.

So he betrayed China by using China as a fool. That's already karma, that strikes on him. Speaking about gambling problem, I don't see him as his problem nor even addicted to drugs. Could be that he took drugs after he was broke and been neglected by US government. So his case already been understood and that's his fate he had created all by himself. And I do believe that he would be prohibited to leave america, even if China is willing to accept him back. Because he already knew too much about america. And to my understanding as well, China won't accept traitors back into the country for fear of his devious and untrustworthiness. Because no one is willing to trust "Judas Iscariot" in any way. And my question to Jerry is, would you ?

Hi Jerry, I am one of your followers and like most of your videos, including this one, dont agree with your idea of bringing him back to China, he betrayed his mother land, his sponsor, his mentor, his family in China, and he is a US citizen, would you easily trust a friend who betrayed your trust? Whoever wants to help him thats up to them, but its not the responsibility of Chinese government, the people who reach out to him may not all act on good will, if so they should reach out to the US government, I think some people just use him to fool China and Chinese government again. An intelligent person is not good for the society if he is not acting kindly, behave responsibly, he would be a harm to the society. As an Chinese expat I appreciate your efforts to promote China and its values, Chinese people are open and kind, but not fools, to let a traitor back and harm its society

He couldn`t have carried that amount of cash into China, it`s illegal, so I don`t think the story is true. It seems to me he doesn`t really want to work. Anybody else in his situation would`ve worked any jobs to survive, but he seemed picky. I think the best solution is for someone in the US to offer him a job over there instead of bringing him back to China.

Let's look at the matter in proper perspective, ignoring the fact that this man had once betrayed his country. Let's say a US citizen left his country and became citizen of another country, and years later he wanted to return and become US citizen again. He will need to follow the proper procedure to apply for it again, and whether his application is accepted will depend entirely on US government. This applies to any other countries in the world including China. Sun Weidong is an American citizen now, he will need to apply for it if he wants to return to China, and whether his application will be accepted is entirely up to the Chinese government. Why should the Chinese government make an exception for him just because he is homeless? In addition his family in China had requested others not to stir up the matter and leave them alone. They don't want to see him. Yes the Chinese people can have empathy and forgive what he had done in the pass, but please do not moral hijack their kindness.

Turning his back on the deal that China made for him is already a strike against him, but could be forgiven as just someone wanting to look for a decent life in a time when China was incredibly poor. But then he had to turn to drugs and gamble his fortune away, so now he has three strikes against him. He's revealed his true character to be untrustworthy. He made his bed, now he has to lay in it - he does need and deserve help, but it should come from the Americans, as he's an American citizen. As for the wife, regardless of whether she was a single mother or not, I find that I sympathize more with her than with him in regards to leaving him. He is after all a druggie and a gambling addict, which means that there is a risk of him indebting the entire family with his behavior. I'm sorry to say this to you, but a woman's first priority and obligation should always be to look after the well-being and future of her own child, NOT the husband who is an adult and can take care of himself.

People here talking about having mercy and second chances... My question to you is why should he have the privilege to have a second chance in China when he is now a US citizen? Why not a second chance in the US? Accepting him back as a Chinese citizen will not necessarily fix his mental health problem, drug addiction problem and gambling problems. China already have billions of mouths to feed so spending resources on a traitor should be the last option on their mind. How about spending US resources to help this man if you care so much about second chances? He paid US taxes while he was working as a US researcher, didn't he? He didn't even pay Chinese taxes, in fact he took resources away from Chinese taxpayers and wasn't even grateful about it. All just to pay US taxes after the program. Another problem is that accepting back citizenship for people who renounce it is a dangerous precedent. The reason is that he could have been recruited by US intelligence agencies and he could be their easy way into Chinese state or industry secrets. The US is known to have CIA spies all over the world. Even their own allies are not spared. It would be really easy to have spies in China if they just accepted anyone who renounced their citizenship back.

@@yamKenny No one could save him now except with God's miracle. If nobody are to believes me, then some kind hearted people should prove me wrong by going to America and help him out. I'm gonna guarantee that those who did so would come back with full of regrets and cursing oneself. Just use some common sense though. Many have emailed to Jerry saying that many been trying to assist and help him out. But so far, none to success. So, how am I going to make you believe ? Answer is, try it all by yourself.

He’s being helped by his former schoolmates with temporary housing, clothing and food right now. They are looking for permanent solutions for him, such as applying for disability benefits etc. It’s going to be difficult because of his mental illness which receives limited support from the US government - that’s why lots of mentally ill people live on the streets of America. It’s funny how people argue about a nonissue “whether he should be allowed to get financial assistance from the Chinese government” when in fact he wasn’t even seeking such assistance. This matter is a barometer for the heart and your warmth burned through the charts ❤️🔥!

I disagree that this person is useful to Chinese society because he is not. But that shouldn’t be the criteria for him returning back to China. China doesn’t allow double citizenship so what is his goal? Become a Chinese citizen again? To proof his worth perhaps he should apply for a visa first. There are a lot of people in China who hold foreign passports. Inconvenient but manageable. Is he already eligible for pension in China?

Doesn't matter if they're his or someone else's, what matters is that the health, safety, and future prospects of your own children should always be any woman's first priority. That means she is completely justified in taking her child and leaving a man who's proven to be both a druggie and a gambling addict. If he didn't adopt the children, then he has zero obligations to them, but, as a mother, she will always be obligated to put her children's needs above the husband's needs.

OK Jerry, you started out with a good video and then trashed and said things that are true. When Ronald Ragan was President he had the law changed and the government could no longer fore people into programs to help them. In the USA we work to help the homeless like the man in the story they can't force him into a program. On to gambling people gamble all the time in China, they just don't have a casino, the get together and play cards and gamble, they mahjong and gamble it happens all the time. As for stealing on trains that happens all the time, they have shown videos on it and how the government uses cameras to help curb the problem, they can't stop it they can only slow it down. Criminals do criminal things all over the world, there are homeless people in every country, because China has so many people they have more homeless by the numbers. In the USA some people have a gambling problem, my nephew who was adopted from Korea had a gambling problem and his mother was concerned, I ask how much has he lost she said he won hundreds of thousand of dollars. He stopped gambling and become a Buddhist monk, changed his name to a Korean name and moved to California, then he met a very nice young lady and stopped being a monk now had a successful business and spend a lot of time out in nature. Jerry you need to stop making up stuff that is not true and stop being a criminal, it is against the law to be on KZfaq, a google product, face book and X Aka Twitter as well as Instagram i n China. You have no respect for the rule of law in China.
