I was shopping in a hardware store for some fence paint and was obviously drawn to the garden and plant department.
I found a whole bunch of Chinese Elm bonsai selling for half price. Each one would be considered a poor bonsai due to the scarring, shape and inverse taper in the main trunk.
I picked what I though was the best of a bad bunch and took it home as a Chinese Elm Bonsai Rescue plant!
The tree was growing in coconut chor which was very dry. I watered and fed it by submersion into a mild solution of Chempak No 3 Fully balanced feed - 20-20-20 NPK.
I made sure the soil was saturated and whilst watering it reduced the amount of leaves, which in turn reduced the loss of water in a dry tree.
The tree was left to recover, and currently looking fit and well.
