These are very very lucky chickens. I’ve seen industrial chicken farms in America and the lives those chickens live is just heart-breaking. Cooped up in a space with no room to move, no fresh air, and given antibiotics to control disease brought on by their poor living conditions. Kudos to this farmer!

Meijer's advertises "free range chickens". I googled. Each chickens gets 1 square foot of land.
@Roddy5566 ай бұрын
@veramae4098 the terms used are very misleading. "Free run" usually just means they aren't actually in a tiny cage just a dense barn and "free range" usually just means they can see the sky at some point. It's nothing like this guy's farm the way they want it to sound. I have about fifty chickens and I am very impressed with the quality of this man's birds. No crowding, no plucking, they don't even scrap for food. They're happy chickens.

@thierrynolevaux92684 ай бұрын
Unbelievable...they all look so happy and healthy. There is a gentleman in the Katanga region of the DRC who owns a herd of cattle which is a couple thousand strong. This herd is continuously moved around the region for excercise and new feeding grounds and is one of the healthiest cattle herds I've ever seen. I know many people who have given up eating chicken in North America due to how they are raised for consumption.

@@1armeddrummerinaprisonrock244. There is no reason why the chickens can’t eat them as long as they have been prepared properly. Fish meal is incredibly nutritious and it’s an environmentally conscious choice. Not only is a waste product being used environmentally sound but if the chickens don’t eat it, it fertilizes where it falls. I can’t imagine the great guano his chickens produce! Chicken and Turkey guano is excellent for gardening and guano based on fish meal must be the best! I just realized that the first commercially available fertilizer was seabird guano collected off cliffs by the ocean! Same principle but different species.😊

We had a couple of chickens and roosters where I used to work. If you start off when they are young, they can be the most personable animals ever. One of the roosters loved to be held and petted. He would put his neck across your shoulder - almost like a chicken hug. Whenever I drove my car into work, he would come running out of the yard to the parking lot to greet me. It was hilarious. @@bret9741 that's because it's grass land and they eat seeds
@bret97413 жыл бұрын
@@FerumCor I grew up farming and ranching, we had about 25,000 acres. Don’t know about China at all, but where I grew up and where I live now how grass grows depends on the cultivar. In NM, we had grass that grew from seed, from rhizomes, clippings of the grass, and seed. Some of the verities grew from seed only. I think, possibly the Chinese farm is overgrazed for the number of birds. Possibly there is other animals sharing the land. My comment was more of a “I wonder why the land is in such poor condition”. Could be a host of issues

@bento48764 жыл бұрын
@@mamufixie Nope it's possible because chickens are actually very feasible. If you give every chicken 10 m2 of space then you can raise on 5 hectare of land ( 1 ha for chickens, 4 ha for growing food) enough chickens to supply 6 tons of meat on a yearly basis. If you integrate fruit trees through polyculture by raising them in an orchard you can get even more food from those 5 ha.

Agnes G people can very well live a fulfilling life without animal consumption. If you are looking to have a discussion not an argument. Personally if the animal I am about to consumed at least had a decent life before it became my sustenance, I would feel better about it. Where I stand now, I am completely looking forward to when meat becomes lab produced that way we won’t ever need to commit animal cruelty.
