Dear all,
In this video, I suggested some Chinese herbs and formulated a Chinese herbal tea to help you to digest in case of overeating on any special occasion! I also shared some tips for eating sensibly.
This tea consists of Shan Zha (Hawthorn fruits), Gu Ya (Rice Sprouts), Mai Ya (Barley Sprouts) and Chen Pi (Tangerine Peels). Shan Zha is to help to digest the meat and greasy food (protein and fat). Rice/barley sprouts can help to digest starchy food. Chen Pi is to move the Qi, hence supporting the digestion further.
Shan Zha, especially in large doses must not be consumed by pregnant women unless is under supervision by a qualified Chinese medicine practitioner. Gu Ya and Mai Ya can reduce milk production, so best to be avoided by nursing mothers.
Hope the above help when you have found yourself eating too much food!
Last but not least, have a very happy, healthy, safe and fulfilling 2021!
Lots of love,
Shirley

Hi @WT GS, my pleasure ☺️ Oh??? Why am I getting very famous in Nova Scotia? 😆 What do you mean? Having said that, Canada has a special place in my heart. My husband is from Canada and I lived in Toronto for a few years. I haven't been to Nova Scotia though. Would love to visit one day!

Hi Shirley, am inspired by ur video . Easy to prepare . This herb hawthorn - I must use the fruit part only? Not the leaves or the stems or twigs ? Also would like to know how often I can Drink this tea when my abdomen is bloated after dinner? Thanks in advance
@ChineseHerbalPantry
@ChineseHerbalPantry 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, I know the leaves have similar functions but I am not too sure about the twigs or stems! Might be similar too. If you have the fresh fruit, I guess give them a try as they are just fruits anyway. This tea recipe is good for overeating, so just a couple of times after overeating. However, if you feel bloated very frequently, and not necessarily caused by overeating, I would recommend to check with your family doctor first to rule out other issues.

I like eating tang hulu during cooler months then thought I should eat hawthorn in a healthier way, let's say :) So I bought dried slices but the tea was very bitter, and I wondered if they were bad or if I prepared it wrong way.
@ChineseHerbalPantry
@ChineseHerbalPantry Жыл бұрын
@clementinasalsera, umm.....hawthorn fruit shouldn't be very bitter. It should has a fruity (slightly sweet) and slightly sour taste. How did you prepare it? Maybe try to buy from a different herbal store and see if it tastes bitter too. Keep me posted!

This will be great for the holiday season. Can I enjoy this in the candy form. Like Chun Pei Mui and San Tsa Flakes? Easier for me to travel with while I’m away from home.

This herbal tea is for over eating, can you give me advice n suggestion l what type of tea can I consume daily as i have on and off indigestion, air in the stomach, sometime bloated.
@ChineseHerbalPantry
@ChineseHerbalPantry 2 жыл бұрын
Hi @Chatterbox, as for your symptoms, although they are on and off, however, you seem like have suffered them for a while. For more chronic symptoms, please check with your family doctor and/or look for a local qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner for a consult. No herbal tea should be consumed daily if not monitored by a Chinese medicine practitioner. This is because our symptoms change, season/weather change, lifestyles, stress level, diet can greatly affect our digestion too. And many more factors that will affect what herbs we should put in the tea. Herbal tea and soup are great for prevention and short term use for minor symptoms. Hope this helps and wish you will find a good Chinese Medicine practitioner to help you.😊 Please take very good care and wishing you well and healthy.💕 Cheers, Shirley

@ChineseHerbalPantry 3 жыл бұрын
HI Jenny, thanks for your enquiry. For now, I don't ship herbs as the shipping fees is so expensive and there is a huge delay due to Covid. In addition to that, I know each country has different custom rules for herbs. I guess it must be quite hard to get Chinese herbs in Nigeria? Maybe try Chinatown? I am so sorry I can't help at this stage. If I can another other ways to help you, I will let you know!
