Hello everyone! Today our relatives are visiting and we decided to cook a Chinese Samovar (火锅 = HoGo = Hotpot) at home according to our recipe. My wife and I love this dish very much and have tried it in many parts of China. As a result, we left only the coolest ingredients for our taste and we have been preparing Hot Pot this way for a long time. So here's the list:
- Pak choi
- Cilantro
- Starch noodles
- Chinese cabbage
- Mushrooms 金针菇, 海 鲜菇 (or whatever you like)
- Beef or lamb (cut into thin slices)
- Dry Tofu
- Base for a Chinese samovar (broth 火锅 底 料)
- Sauce (Sesame paste 芝麻酱 + fermented Tofu 腐乳)
- Soy sauce
In general, you can add any ingredients you like to Hogo - potatoes, daikon, mung bean, shrimp, sausages, crab sticks, etc. The Chinese very often put frozen seafood dumplings.
A similar dish, but with its own variations, can be found in Japanese cuisine (Syabu-Syabu), Korean cuisine (Shabu-Shabu) and other Asian cultures.
