A delegation of high-ranking martial artist from Fuchou, in Southern China, where the roots of Uechi Ryu can be found, visit the Soke Dojo to research the evolution of Southern Chinese Chuan fa and Kung fu. The demonstration was run by Kanmei Uechi and overseen by Master Ryuko Tomoyose.
The first of two highlights of the evening are the strongest and most solid Sanchin test you will ever see, performed by black belts from Master Yonamine's Koza Dojo.
The second is an astounding Sanseiryu kata by Kiyohide Shinjo, son of Seiyu Shinjo and nine-time Uechi Ryu Kata and Kumite Champion from Kadena Dojo.
Taken from Alan Dollar's Okinawan Karate Historical Series. Volume 1 of 3, Episode 5.

I practice Karate since 1980. I started with Shotokan and Shito. Then in 1988 I started with chinese nartial arts, Wing Chun and Choy Li Fut. In 1993 I went to Okinawa and started practicing Uechi-ryu. I am an Uechi practicioner since today, 6'dan. If practiced traditionaly it is practically a chinese/okinawan martial art. Very deep, hard and soft discipline. I trained under occidental sensei but... it's totally diferent. The discipline, the mental strenght. In Okinawa we used to train every day, almost all day, nobody laugh, no useless talking, no disrespect. The body and the mind transform into a fight machine. You develop a muscular body with Uechi training. Big respect.

Uechi Ryu is strongest Kara te. Much respect to you. I've been training martial arts since 1982. Recently began Uechi Ryu Sanchin kata and conditioning the dragon hand for striking. . .At times it feels like a danger for self injury to my thumb joint if I were to miss a soft tissue target and hit jaw bone, facial bone or head skull.

A Goju-ryu practitioner here. It is a real treat to see Okinawan karate styles and their variations of Sanchin and Seisan kata. So different, and yet all are branches of the same tree - Okinawan Karate. Much respect!

Most people in America have never practiced or even seen the Original Karate from Okinawa. It is a very complete art. It’s like a mixture of Karate and Judo

I am convinced that Karate is a complete set. The differences come down to styles which do not matter anyhow at the top level of skill. From that point of view Judo is already an integral part of Karate as well as jiu-jutsu.

Reminds me of the power, speed and perfect technique of my South Korean master Khee Hai Rhee who ran the RAF UKTA back in the early 1970s. Over the years, especially Tae Kwon Do as with other 'once' reputable fighting forms have been watered down primarily for commercial purposes i.e. selling belts or 'foot fencing' as with TKD Olympics. Good that we have such recorded videos of such masters because on seeing the incredible power and skills, is so obvious to anyone who took up martial arts in the last 40 years what a 'sham' their style is now.

Taekwondo was started by a Military General, who was not a master in the martial arts, it is still the same as it was when first founded. It is a sport and so registered in Korea as a sport and not as a martial art.

Sanchin is most important kata in Okinawan Kara te because it's done slowly under dynamic tension to cultivate tendons, cardio-vascular strength and iron body shield. To outsiders looking in, the uninitiated, don't understand what they're watching so it is lost upon them. To an Okinawan Ryu practitioner , the initiated, we see what others are oblivious to and we respect what we see because we understand it. In India there's a saying, "A monkey can not appreciate the taste of ginger." There's also a saying in the holy bible, "do not cast pearls before swine nor give what is holy to the dogs lest they turn and render you to pieces." The ignorant can not see value in that which they don't understand so they tear it to pieces. This video is a treasure for practitioners of Okinawa Ryu. Thank you for sharing.

If the origin is white crane, it is obvious that they lost a lot of the shaking/ vibrating aspect that is the foundation of crane systems. Instead they substitute external hardness training.

Uechi ryu is a tiger crane dragon system with the founders master shushiwa or zhou zhu he(spelled wrong) being from the Huzun quan or Tiger ancestor fist style and taught mainly tiger style with some crane n dragon to uechi founder......its not the same as Goju's ancestor which is some white crane style. Huzun quan beginning four forms are Sanzhan,Shisan and Sanshiliu shou and Yibailing shou(Uechi's original big three was sanchin, shisan and sandairu.) they even use the same fighting stance the double tiger claw like stance.
