This video on Chinese mythology explains the Chinese creation myth starting from the first god Pangu. In this video, many creation myths have been fused, when often Pangu would be its own answer to the “Creation” question, and Nüwa would be another. With the creation of the humans, the brother and sister myth often does not co-exist with Nüwa, and in some versions, they simply do one test and everything works out. Another version, not included here, has a giant snake give birth to all animals and then finally humans. This said, creation myths are not a dominating aspect of Chinese Mythology and there are not as many records of them as there are of other areas (like the creation of the immortals and various arts or ideas) - it seems like the origin of the human race and Earth was not as important of a question to the ancient Chinese.

in the Sumerian mythology, the gods were fed up after giving the humans the ability to reproduce, as the humans were too noisy, and so they decided to create the flood and leave the Earth. I find it fascinating that the parallels between ancient societies, all have the same sort of allegories playout within them.

@W. A.j. None of what you described is in Chinese culture. Those are caused by poverty and lack of education, you will find cultured Chinese people do none of those things. Before you jump into conclusion and blame everything on culture or tradition maybe take some time to try to understand the real reasons that caused all those horrible things. Chinese society went through probably the hardest fall in human history in the 20th century, European colonization, two Opium War, Taiping Rebellion, the disastrous end of Qing Dynasty, Sino-Japanese War, a civil war, Great Leap Forward and Culture Revolution, more than 150 years of unrest and warfare contributed to a poor, uneducated and superstitious Chinese society which caused people to do desperate and disgusting things. Though still a lot efforts need to be made for China to recover, things are a lot better now that more and more people are educated and traditional cultures, values and wisdom are once again appreciated.

It's honestly not that interesting. Every culture and every country has experienced "great floods". The only difference is 8000 years ago, floods in an area is basically the known world to them. The world was very large... Imagine the Chinese and Romans (2 of the greatest empires) did not meet till 166AD Add thousands of years of story telling from generation to generation and you end up with an exaggerated claim.

So, I am not Chinese, nor have I learned in China. But from the limited research I have done so far for my novel, I have noticed several different myths in different religions of Chinese descent. Some have Pangu as the creator god, some have the Jade Emperor and some have other deities like Guanyin. I wouldn't rush to call any single myth incorrect as there are many versions which vary in content, like most oral myth it's a game of broken telephone.

The myths of China began from "pangu" split heaven and earth, pangu died, a race called the "wizard" inherited his strength, the leader of the witch is twelve progenitor wu (but they don't have something called the yuan god, similar to the soul), his soul force was hung-chun bodhi old zu and sanqing, nuwa, get the power of the detachment. At the same time on the earth travel all sorts of demon beast, god beast, they formed an empire, the emperor is "East emperor too one", it mastered the power of the sun, demon clan and sorcery clan began to fight for the position of the leading role of heaven and earth war, in the battle both lose and lose, and the sky played a hole. Nuwa gave up her life to fill the hole in the sky. At the same time, the human race created by Nuwa began to multiply and became the protagonist of heaven and earth.

I'm curious on what school of thought was this story based on. Was this Confucianism? Or Taoism? Or other else? Other version says that the creation of earth was due to the Three Pure Ones. The First Pure One gives birth to the Second Pure One who's responsible for creation of the earth. On the same manner, the Second Pure One gives birth to the Third Pure One who is responsible for the creation of mankind. So, which is which?
@wanminghu5982
@wanminghu5982 Жыл бұрын
1. Gods in Taoism, for example Jade Emperor and Nezha is considered as "neo gods" since it appears similar time as Buddist and Christianity. Nezha for example as a god is later on mixed in some other stuff from Buddist and Hindu made it more like Asura but in a good manner. 2. Gods like Pangu and Nuwa in this video is more close to those gods in Ancient Greek. Chinese call them "Ancient gods" and "original religion gods" 3.Confucianism is only considered as a religion in the west. Its not considered as a religion in China, instead its just considered as a philosophy.

Yo this history is highly incomplete and doesn't include the Chinese power system the real myth should be something like this In the nothingness where their was no conceptually laws such as space, time , matter , fate , energy , yin , yang , etc ; but within the endless nothingness or since their no concept so it not endless it gave birth to the simplistic source energy that can produce any conceptually energy, matter, space , time , and all other thing in and out of existence and even the various laws such as the 3000 laws of existence in Chinese myth that include physical laws in modern time that govern the operation rules of existences. This initially source gave birth to the avenue that is a combination of all laws that been created or will be created and it gave birth to the initial prototype of chaos or as i like to call it the avenue experimentally site within this chaos the avenue gave birth to endless of various 'higher dimensional" creatures that were implanted with an experimentally rule that the likely emotionless computer like avenue (in term of personality) gave them so they could further perfect their own laws and among them 3000 of them have created the greatest results among them and the laws they perfect eventually became the 3000 fundamental laws currently while the other laws that was possible produce although might be included in future era's are not universally laws like 3000 and may only affect certain region depending on the situation. At the end of avenue initial law experiment it gave pangu the chaos creature containing the law of POWER a mission stating that as long as it open up (or destroy chaos i guess) and create a world he can sanctify him upgrading his existence to an avenue saint that is an eternal existence as long as the avenue exist (or to put it in another way he becomes the administrator and become more privileged in comparison to other creatures and can modify the laws to a certain extent making it impossible for non avenue saints to kill him with the exception of the avenue itself that the source of avenue saint power.); so back on topic pangu eventually chooses this road to prove his law of power by completing the avenue mission to become a saint but during pangu creation the other 3000 chaos demons tries to stop pangu since if pangu creates the heaven and earth it would be the equivalent of blocking their path to an avenue saint at most it possible to be a lower level heavenly saint that restrict power within a single world that sanctified in. So eventually pangu and most of the other 3000 chaos demons fight but possible under the avenue plan (since it likely doesn't need these experimentally creatures anymore) pangu had a few well basically plugin weapons that allowed him to win but drained most of his stamina so when the heaven and earth that he just created started to collapse inwards he was basically forced to gamble or sacrifice himself to complete heaven and earth so with his body and the remainder of the dead chaos demons he got together sufficient amount of material and laws from the 3000 demons to create a independent world with it own operating principles and consciousness named heavenly way. So after pangu death and heaven and earth birth some creatures from chaos survived and entered the newly born heaven and earth and the avenue started it practical test stage as i like to call it. so it provided an energy called merit it basically a diluted version of source energy that the avenue gives to the various creatures and heavenly way the perfects the operating principles of heaven and earth and under the condition an certain creatures obtains a certain amount of merits they can become a heavenly saint although the power doesn't cover the endlessness of the avenue but within heaven and earth it has a comparable amount of power to an avenue saint. the first saint as hongjun that taught the various creatures how to use an energy called aura to develop the brain gain wisdom , improve the body , and create an energy system closely linked to the soul allowing the billions of creatures to open up wisdom and gain power for their own goal allowing heaven and earth to prosperous for trillions of years. later the first saint opened up a school basically and selected 3000 creatures to gain his knowledge of which 6 people were selected to become his inner students. those 6 students and 2 or 3 other people eventually became a saint existence by completing various feet and further improving the operating principles of heaven and earth. 1.created humanity. 2.created 6 reincarnation 3.created god system 4.created specialized practice system 5.buddism 6.taoism 7 and onwards i am not queit sure you can look it up and after the 9 or 10 saints were eventually selected except for 1 or 2 that were killed by other or entered into a robbery they basically stayed eternal alongside heaven and earth as for the other creatures they followed the trends of heaven and earth although they are not as powerful as before so as not to treaten heavenly way but they got a more complex and wider system to live in and each fragment of inspiration they generated are collected by the heavenly way the further improve heaven and earth operating principles. as for the avenue it basically treats heaven and earth as an cage containing countless chickens laying eggs of inspiration for it to further improve and who knows it might have not only created our world but endless other world with different sets of law containing endless other creatures with various different thinking habits and logic providing it endless inspirations to self improve it own existence eventually moving toward an state of perfection in myth called mixed yuan where it will be literally perfect in all aspect from that point onward past , present, and future since it will go beyond all concepct of time , space , yin , yang , chaos , nothingness, etc till it either fully replaces the nothingness , collapses , or stay stuck in a bottleneck.
