Exciting matches. I think it is sometimes hard for the men to adjust with the women tending to play close to the table, with very few mid table topspin loop rallies. Sun Ying Sha probably one of my favourite bloomers of late, such a dynamic player.

Great video. Could you do a video about table tennis as a career in terms of playing professionally. It is hard for a lot of nations to compete against China and other countries that pay there athletes to train. I know in Australia even America and possibly Germany to make it you have to fund yourself the state/ government does not offer any or hardly any payment. Do state paid players know this?? It is an uneven playing field I remember the top players in Australia has to pay for representing their own country. They had to get jobs then rush to training then repeat it all over again. I wonder how different world table tennis would be if everybody could practice full time like the Chinese . While Ma Long works on his loops others are at work earning a living so they can afford to play.

Certainly not because of this match, that USA men is at same level as China Women, far from it. And since they never played the men before, they don't have best strategy for the time being.

Table tennis is the smart sport, it is not important if you were women and your forehand wasn't enough strong like male athlete, but you play a suitable tactic and catch the weakness of opponent, the chance for both is 50/50. The rest will depend on who maintain the concentrate longer. Maybe Cheng Men can win Fan ZD in an official match if in future there will be a league or tournament for this kind. She plays very smart.
@theoracle2760
@theoracle2760 2 жыл бұрын
50/50? I don't know about that. Keep in mind these are literally the best female players in the world (3 of them were ranked #1 at some point in their career, 2 of them are Olympic champions) against men who are not even in the top 100. There's a reason that when they play the Chinese men they give the women handicap points to attempt to even out the disadvantage. Chen Meng still lost to FZD even with the extra points when they played before the Olympics.
@martin_geuer
@martin_geuer 2 жыл бұрын
Even though it's a honorable view it is objectively not true. There is unfortunately nothing that suggests that a) it doesn't matter whether you are a man or a woman, b) that the chances between men and women would be 50/50 and c) that strength is no factor ... assuming that the best women play against the best men. The author of this channel should be able to verify this himself. I am not saying that Chen Men couldn't beat FZD ... If they play enough matches it's probably just a matter of time .. but it would be an exception .. on a day where FZD has either an exceptionally bad day or/and Chen Men has an exceptionally good day. This video alone shows that literally the best women in the world had a rather hard time to win against male players, who literally have no relevance on the international stage and would be easily blown out of the park by every Top20 male player... Not to mention the Chinese handicap matches in preparation for the Olympics - even though there could be some "politics" involved as well (you can also see them on that channel). Also I would be careful to only make this about intelligence, because this would mean that Sun Yingsha just wasn't smart enough to win her game and this is something I personally would not want to believe. Even in chess, where it is soley about intelligence, the best women in the world have litteraly no chance at all against the best male players. The only sport I know so far, where women not only have a chance but would be able to beat men on a reagular base is archery. On paper men reach slightly higher scores, but the margins are so slim, that litterally anything can happen. Esspecially in mixed team competition you can see female athlets "outperforming" their male counterparts even on a high end level.
@yongdeng1813
@yongdeng1813 2 жыл бұрын
If the game starts 0:0, no woman in this world can beat any top 10 men in the national team of china. NONE, 0 ! Anyone who said otherwise either dont know table tennis or just not familliar how strong the chinese men are in table tennis.
@owen1226
@owen1226 2 жыл бұрын
Are you serious? Chen Meng said when she had to train with male ladder players from Chinese national team, she felt unconformable to male power. Even in Chinese warm up games, male vs female started points at 8:9 and 6:8, that meant female 1 point equals to male 2 points. The reason female could win just because US male national team was not that good.
@Sunnysky321
@Sunnysky321 2 жыл бұрын
You are just kidding. Top male players' power and spin (both forehand and backhand) are just devastating for most female players to handle. In addition, off the table top male players are much faster and can cover a wider area than top female players.

Anyone from the Chinese B team are better than all of the American team. Forget that, I bet anyone from the current Chinese C team are already better. And these Americans are really good but i just wanna highlight the unfairness of the system. TableTennis world ranking is different from Tennis world ranking. Some really good Chinese tabletennis players don't get a chance to compete internationally because each country are only allowed to bring a set number of players to tournaments. So players represent their countries. Tennis is more based on free economics and less political. In tennis, you represent yourself and compete in the challengers league and earn rankings before competing in the ATPs and Grand Slams. I think the reason for this difference is that there's just not enough money in TableTennis to sustain a structure similar to Tennis international tournaments. What do you guys think?

I am ranked around 190th in my country and I can easily compete with our women from top 20. Yes, there are some tournaments where men can play real matches against women, so I can tell you from my own experience that there IS a big difference between genders in table tennis.

@@robertberneda6538 I live in Slovakia, not very "table tennis" country I would say. We only have two male players in top 100 and we are not even close to the level of table tennis in Germany for example. I consider myself a good amateur, not even a half-pro. Also, our our top women are far from chinese top women. I do not have a world ranking, but I suppose, there are at least 50000 better players in the world, probably more. I am just saying that there is a real difference in power and speed between men and women.

@@robertberneda6538 Do you mean the top 200th male players cannot beat the top 5th female players in the world? I would expect the opposite: The world's real top 200th male player will beat the top 1st female player quitely easily. Remember the ITTF world ranking is not real. Many unranked players in China are much better than the 200th player in the ITTF ranking list.

I'd be insterested in the base rates, i.e. how many chinese women play as opposed to how many men. It's said that the men's 2nd team doesn't stand a chance against the women's 1st team. That would mean they're close together overall, with like 4 better top male talents than female ones. That's not a big gender gap.

2/3 men’s team are chinese x pat’s that benefited from the chinese system. So are the really American? 2nd when I was a tennis player in the 70’s I saw a girl playing at a club in Florida. At the time she was ranked 3rd amateur in the nation. She was un-real and the only person who could beat her was the club male champion. But her coach said playing her wouldn’t help her game. She hit so ‘weakly’ against him he could play serve and volley. Something he couldn’t do against men and she didn’t face when she played women? I don’t face any guy who plays the reflex rushing game women play. And who doesn’t believe that Ma long or FZD pull out all their ‘gun’s’ they could over power any women’s reflex heavy light power game? The men already “throw” the 2nd game against most Europeans to keep it interesting in most tournaments win anyway to keep themselves invited to tournaments and make the game loss look convincing.
