Worshipping *gods and *ancestors has birthed communism. Sort of like Kronos fearing offspring tries to destroy them but eventually gets overtaken... Some traditions need to be let go of, not forced but understood to not be beneficial, so just... Let it go.... But communist force, trying to control the uncontrollable, trying to control the future... through destruction... is Kronos all over again.

To be fair, the countries around China like Vietnam, Korea and Japan, all used the lunar calendar that originated in China, and therefore all had the same new year (until Japan modernized and adopted the Western calendar)

@@khoaphan202it does not only originate from China, is determined by China NOW. So called lunar calendar, or Chinese farmers calendar, is not some fixed calendar as the solar calendar you are using. It is determined by China’s Purple Mountain Observatory based on the their observations on the moon and seasonal changes. So technically Chinese only release the exact calendar of 5 or 6 years after. The only explanation for why you all have “new year celebration” on the same day with Chinese, is that you use the calendar made by purple mountain I also wonder why some countries use a calendar that’s totally controlled by China
@khoaphan202
@khoaphan202 6 ай бұрын
@@dodo-eu6ox that still not my point, I have no problem with wherever the Calendar was made and if the chinese control it, what I meant is the holiday was celebrated by different countries in different ways and not just China, calling the collectve group of culture base on the originate country of one calendar is absurb for me. (I have no problem if you call China's Luna New Year as Chinese New Year tho but we're talking about the bigger group here) Also country like Vietnam have their Lunar Calendar version that was caculated 1 hours shorter than the Chinese Lunar Calendar every year so there a chance every 23 years they not celebrate their Lunar New Year on the same day as Chinese New Year, so even base on one calendar there still variations depend on the country, even less reason to care if the Chinese have the control over it or not
@dodo-eu6ox
@dodo-eu6ox 6 ай бұрын
@@khoaphan202 As I said, it’s not “the holiday is celebrated by different countries”. It’s every country celebrates the new year. So why does it has to be the same day with the Chinese, as it’s their own holidays? It’s because some countries are just being lazy, even Chinese ancestors has provided the whole world with a great way to observe the moon, humidity and everything . They are still too lazy to make their own calendars with it, so they just choose to plagiarize from MODERN Chinese and bullying these Chinese by depriving their right to name their own holiday Problem easily solved if they just get their own calendar and name their new year with the name they want, and leave the Chinese holiday alone.

@@khoaphan202 As you said, Vietnamese and Japan are doing a great job as being a independent country, so it would be great if they finally get a totally different festival of their own. You're thinking of the flag of Qing Dynasty Empire which fell in 1911, about fifteen years before the Chinese communist party formed. The flag of the Republic of China is the one still being used by the Republic of China in Taiwan, which is a red flag with a white sun on a blue background in the corner.

@iheartcryptoverse2857 Unfortunately, it was the only commodity European traders could use. The Qi'ing Dynasty made it illegal to sell or barter imported goods to Chinese consumers, which made it very difficult for European merchants to make a profit off the goods they were sending off to their home countries. But Opium was tolerated by the Qi'ing because their Han Chinese subjects became addicted to it, and thus less prone to protesting or rebelling their rule. It was the Dutch that began importing the stuff in the mid 18th century from India, and other European traders followed suit. But the British started glutting Chinese markets with Opium in the early 19th century to pay for massive quantities of tea, and this led the Qi'ing and Britain to the First Opium War.

The more I think about it, I realized that while growing up in Asian-American communities, a lot of the Chinese culture have been taught by Taiwanese and mainlanders that fled the mainland decades ago; and there's been good reasons for that one. In Chinese schools, teachers are mostly Taiwanese and so are the textbooks they usually use, and most courses offered were in traditional script, not simplified. Even in grade school, the "non CCP" versions were taught but I'm pretty sure that's because of heavy local Asian-American influence so teachers can't just bullshit as hard. I can't say much on electives offered in high school as I thought taking it would just mean a waste of time, but that may have been a different story especially with how the AP curriculum was laid out. Funny because I've never heard of the term "Spring Festival" in neither English nor Chinese until just last year watching other KZfaqrs exposing the CCP. And I was born in Taiwan and moved to the US and grew up in Asian-American communities; nobody calls it that shit. Main point being, I'm so glad I've never heard of most of the CCP propaganda bullshit while growing up other than the color red part and not normalizing calling it **Lunar** New Year, but I probably may have loosely remembered that red wasn't the only color Chinese culture was known for. Too bad I can't say the same now that there are more younger, brainwashed mainlanders coming over to the US.

Fr. God damn everything is just so badly researched in here. It hurts as a Taiwanese. For instance, the Spring Holiday thing is factually incorrect. The word popped in and out of existence in Chinese history, and it was Yuan ShiKai during 北伐時期 right after the ROC was founded that he first officially started using it. It then got adopted by the CCP officially in 1949. Just because I hate CCP doesn’t mean everything they did is demonisable. Simplified Chinese was technically taken from old Chinese cursive made into proper writing, but just because it came from the CCP doesn’t mean I should hate it with every inch of my heart.

One of my favourite books on the subject is Red China Blues: My Long March from Mao to Now is a 1996 book by Chinese-Canadian journalist Jan Wong. Wong describes how the youthful passion for left-wing and socialist politics drew her to participate in the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Speaking little Chinese, she became one of the first Westerners to enroll in Beijing University in 1972. However, her idealism did not survive the harsh realities and hypocrisy she saw in the China of the 1970s, and she abandoned her support of Maoism.

The cultural revolution was terrible. Even aside from the killings and social violence, the formerly wealthy were viciously persecuted. I had a friend from a formerly wealthy family in China. They had to live in a single room of their old house. The Red Guard came through twice and stole everything they had. My friend wanted very badly as a 9 or 10 year old to take a special art class at school, but was told she was ineligible for being from a "bad family." She was frequently bullied by the other kids, but the teachers wouldn't do anything to help. Once she was playing alone in the school yard, and someone above dropped a window frame on her head, seriously injuring her. Her family was "sent down to the land" at one point to work on a collective farm. Her mother's milk dried up from the stress, and her brother became learning disabled because he didn't get enough nutrition at the critical early stages of brain formation. Her entire life in China was like this until she immigrated to the US on a student visa (this was the 80s, so she didn't get any cash card or other help, and had to pay her own way through college at non-resident tuition.). Naturally, she's not too fond of Mao or Xi. I doubt Gen Z today would be so in love with leftism if they had more experience with living in a communist country.

This video is full of lies!! It’s not Chinese communism party who forcible changed the tradition name from ‘Chinese New Year’ to ‘Sping Festival’. The Kuo-min Tong’s founder Sun Yat-Sen ordered to abandon traditional Chinese calendar and use the western calendar in 1912. Yuan Shikai, who is the provisional President of Republic of China, signed the order to change the name ‘Chinese New Year’ to ‘Spring Festival’ in 1914. There are bunch of history documents on this!! And the Chinese Communism Party was founded in 1921. Then how the CCP can change the name in 1914??

The ancient North Vietnam was a Chinese city. The name of the history was "JiaoShi 交趾". The ancient Chinese lived here more than 2000 years ago. They speak Chinese dialects 漢方言and use Chinese characters漢字. Of course, they use dragon, Chinese culture and wearing Chinese clothes -hanfu 漢服. The history of the JiaoShi 交趾 (North Vietnam) region was recorded by the local Chinese. History was also written by Chinese characters 漢字& classic Chinese 文言文. China has to build real alliances to even contemplate surpassing the United States. The world, America included, is content to take from China, but even their immediate neighbors which are also communist don't want to allign too closely with China. Alliances are built upon trust, and it takes time to build trust. You need to want a relationship based off trust, and China wants to be a hegemon. Their desire disqualifies them from earning the trust of their potential allies.

Well, in Vietnam, it's TET, and there was a bit of excitement for the TET holiday in 1968; things didn't fare well for the Viet Cong or the NVA, for that matter. But Walter just lied as usual. So here in 2024, Vietnam has become pretty much an ally of the United States once again. I find it funny that a Communist Country is seeking defacto protection from another Communist Country by seeking out Uncle Samuel. Never mind that Vietnam has become a major trading nation with the United States; one of these days, I am going to wake up and Ho Chi Minh City is Saigon once again. On the other hand, Huy Fong Sriracha has all but disappeared; I am not happy about that. All I want for TET is to have my hot sauce of choice back and in good supply!

Vietnam as US ally? Ally is a strong word here. Vietnam businesses prefers western markets over China’s, sure. But to say Vietnam and the US are allies is a bit presumptuous. Vietnam will say and do what’s necessary to encourage foreign investments…but make no mistake about it, if push comes to shove, Vietnam is not interested in getting involved with American power struggle in the south china seas. Close - if you listen between the lines, the Lunar New Year traditionally included WISHES for a prosperous spring. In an agrarian society that period between winter and spring is the leanest of the year, hoping you have enough food saved up to last through planting and waiting for the new crops to grow to edible size and ripeness. So in the second sense you're probably hoping you'll make it until spring 😨

One minor correction about the color red for lunar new year (Taiwanese here). Red, in the olden days, was not an easy color to get, especially for fabric. That might be one of the reasons why you don't see a lot of red in paintings of people's clothing back then. As a kid in Taiwan, we would wear red for LNY. So whether or not the CCP tried to associate red with LNY, I don't know. But I can say that red was already a color for celebration and for new years prior to the CCP trying to associate it with LNY. Basically, if they tried to associate red with LNY, it would be like spitting into the ocean.

Chinese new year is called Chinese new year... because it's Chinese new year. Nobody's stopping you from saying "Korean new year" or "Vietnamese new year". Why tf should Chinese people have to call it "lunar new year". "Chinese" is not just anything involved with PRC. It also refers to Chinese influences in culture not just exclusive to China but outside of it, as well. Such as the word "kanji/hanja" (Han characters), gofuku (Wu clothing), etc.. South China Sea is probably called that due to China being the largest country in the vicinity of that region. It does not automatically mean that all of it should belong to China. PRC also isn't the only "China". "Spring festival" was a term used since the era of the Chinese republic. And if you know anything about the KMT, they were the ones actively seeking out the communist sympathizers to kill.

In the ancient Korea (Chaoxian朝鮮 , Real historical name). It was two different ethnic groups. 1. Chinese (Han Ethnic) - Ruler and nobleman 2. Korean (White Clothes Ethnic) - Civilians and slaves 1. Ruler and nobleman (Goguryeo , Baekje, Silla , Goryeo, Joseon=Chaoxian朝鮮 ..): Chinese local officials and nobles (royal members, monks, scholars, soldiers, architects, technicians, and their families ...). They are Chinese (Han) and their descendants born in the local area. They have always wore China in China costumes. They speak Chinese language (official and Han dialect) and Chinese characters. They are Chinese officials and represent the Chinese emperor's governance of the ancient Korean Peninsula (朝鮮). Local Chinese officials (Chaoxian king朝鮮王) and Chinese nobles in ancient Korea (Chaoxian 朝鮮-Chinese territory). They all Chinese clothes (hanfu), headdress (hat and crown), silk cloth (including embroidery), soldiers (such as: defensive clothing, horses). Weapons (including cannons), Chinese literature books (including Chinese history, Taoism Buddhism), Chinese special architectural materials (including palaces and design paintings). Food materials (Chinese food and Chinese royal food), wooden wheels used, large military ships, etc. are made from other cities in China). Among them, the Chinese royal's (Chaoxian king /officials and nobles) Hanfu comes from Chinese han clothes, opera clothing, and hat crown headwear. Therefore, the fabric on the clothes is high -level. There are a large number of Chinese official dragon patterns and various traditional Chinese patterns (including Chinese characters) on the clothes. 2. Civilians and slaves (Goryeo, Joseon=Chaoxian朝鮮 ..only appeared in history after the 13th century): Civilians and slaves are indigenous Koreans (White Clothes Ethnic白衣民族). They speak Korean language. Long -term banned learning and use of Chinese characters 漢字(except a few descendants of mixed with Chinese people). Korean people cannot use any pattern of Chinese imperial power. 龍dragon and 鳯phoenix. In ancient times, this was a beheading and destroyer. * Chinese patterns and Dragon's totem represents the symbol of the ancient Chinese and Chinese power. Korean people cannot use any pattern of Chinese imperial power. 龍dragon and 鳯phoenix. Only the Chinese royal family and senior officers can use it. If the "White clothes Ethnic 白衣民族" (today's ancestors of Koreans) use the pattern of dragon and use Chinese characters. They will destroy the tribe and beheaded. Korean characters韓字 are text used by slaves. Ancient Korean can only use Korean characters (after the 15th century. Chinese officials - Chaoxian king and Chinese scholars who settled on the Chaoxian朝鮮 . Chinese officials use Chinese characters and Korean language to create "Korean characters韓字 ".) for slaves. These low Korean soldiers are used to protect the Chaoxian Peninsula 朝鮮半島(Chinese territory) to prevent Japanese pirates from invasion. In ancient Korea (Chaoxian朝鮮 ) does not have any technologies and processes such as metal , Bend the wood and dye embroidery patterns. Most Korean men became low -level soldiers in the Chinese army (under the command of Chinese officers). There is no armor. Korean only wear pure white clothes and korean women's clothing is exposed nipples (Hanbok - Features of traditional Korean clothes). All Korean women use their heads to move anything (similar to other primitive tribal culture). Korean houses are cottage built with grass (only Chinese can live in Chinese palaces and temples). Korean people earn food in the market concentrated on exchanging items. They do not have any coins and any metal things. South Korea's national culture and tools for use are very primitive. Writing history is the tradition and habit of the ancient Chinese. The history of the ancient Korean Peninsula was written by classical Chinese. This was read for the Chinese and must be approved for the Chinese emperor. This is a record and governance story of Chinese officials and nobles on the ancient Korean Peninsula.

@@DanhNguyen-1905 The ancient North Vietnam was a Chinese city. Modern Vietnamese are indigenous people in Southeast Asia. Only 100 years have evolved. There is no text (the French made Vietnamese text characters ). Vietnamese Ethnic there is no historical record. It is normal for the Chinese華人 (or Chinese descendants 華人後代) in Vietnam to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The Chinese in any country are the same. Anceint japan (before 13th century )= 東瀛 & 扶桑 & 倭 . (the name set by the Chinese emperor. This video is actually a total lie. PC is too much. 1st Spring Festival is originally from China;2nd Lunar New Year is not very correct academic,it’s a combine with the sun and the moon; 3th one of our neighbors is good at stealing culture. Last year they said lunar new year is from Korea. 😅they even take many actions. That’s why then we insist on to add Chinese ❤

This video is so wrong in many aspects: a) Lunar new year is celebrated in many east Asian countries, but it has the original root in China. There is nothing wrong for the Chinese to call it "Chinese New Year". Just like the Korean can call their new year as "Korean new year" b) The term "Spring Festival" was not created by Communist China. The term was created by Yuan Shikai (袁世凱). After the collapse of Qing Dynasty, Republic of China started to adopt western calendar. At first, Yuan Shikai wanted to remove Chinese New Year and force citizens to adopt Western New Year instead. But he had faced a lot of resistance from the public. So, he decided to keep the Chinese New Year but renamed it as "Spring Festival".

Yes red has something to do with the commie CCP, but red has always mean "good luck" in Chinese culture. The red envelope was widely used pre-1949, along with 4-word poem calligraphy and etc. This was all brought to Taiwan prior to CCP. Also they didn't replace the dragon Manchu Ching flag, they replaced either the historical 7 stripe ROC flag or the Blue Sun flag that is currently representing Taiwan

That's rich! Gotta say that Christians did a number on Christmas by deciding it should be celebrated on the day of large pagan celebrations instead of in the spring/summer.....when he was most likely born. December 25th was the festival for Saturnalia. Julius I decided it was also the birth of Christ. It was no coincidence. It was purposeful manipulation. The idea of the Christmas tree, mistletoe, and reindeer all came from Scandinavian and Germanic peoples Yule celebrations. St. Nicholas (Santa) was a real person. A Christian. A saint. Giving presents on Christmas stems from a story where St. Nicholas paid the debt of a family in order to keep the three daughters out of prostitution. Perhaps it didn't escape your attention that none of this has anything to do with Americans. Either your education has failed you completely, or you just hate Americans and blame them for everything without cause. Which is it? Are you ignorant or just bitter angry person.

China learned 0 from Japan. Japan, China and other South East Asian countries were alike in the 19th century. You know, closed borders, limited trading with the outside world, limited knowledge about the outside world, with the intellectuals gnawing on old books and philosophies written hundred of years ago, basically an echo chamber before echo chambering was cool. Then came Emperor Meiji and Japan reinvented itself into an industrial and military power, and you would have thought China would have learned something when the imperial Japan navy kicked their asses in the Sino-Japanese war, and imperial Russia afterward. You would have thought that China would have realized that yeah, all of these humiliation happened because of ourselves, and our backward way of governing. But no. China never blamed itself, the one that let the oppressors in in the first place. They learned nothing.
