This is such a helpful introduction to Chinese brush painting!! As a beginner, it was soooo helpful hearing the explanations and tips, and being able to see the process 🥰🥰🥰 The introduction to the materials and techniques was so helpful because it can be so overwhelming knowing where to start or how to research. There were so many things I learned in just 5 minutes. Thank you!!

this is so beautiful... I'm just a beginner in chinese painting, may i ask you a question? how to prevent my paper from wrinkling? when the colors are dried paper looks wrinkled :(((

I think that your paper is probably too raw or thin. Try to use thinner ink. It doesn’t really matter if the paper is wrinkled when dried. It’ll be flat when mounted. That’s the beauty of rice paper.

That is just beautiful in every way! Please tell me, you have painted for 25 years or so, but how long did it take to start making "decent" strokes?

Thanks. It’s hard to say because it depends on how much work you put in. I would say weeks.

This is so useful. I have just started Chinese-style painting so seeing the basics is interesting. Do you dilute the ink for any paintings? Thanks again.
@KateWuArt3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I am getting your question correctly... I don’t pre-dilute ink for any painting. I wet the brush and create gradation by manipulating the brush and the amount of water in my brush. Please check out my latest 2 videos for step by step painting koi fish and another painting with just ink.

I wonder what size these brushes are and where we can find them in the USA. Anyone know?

Why is my ink getting smudged on Chinese paper?
@KateWuArt2 күн бұрын
It’s the combination of paper and the amount of water and ink in your brush. Try to reduce the amount of water in your brush before you take ink.
