In societies where more siblings are the norm, having one younger child being an athlete isn’t as big a risk, I guess provided that the older sibling has a career with more income stability to support the aging parents. Plus as you say, the younger child may have more “grit” and work hard.

These are all things that can affect the athletic potential of a younger sibling.

True, but I don't think the Middle East belongs in the same discussion as Latin America or Europe. Look at the AFC. Out of the top 5 in the current world rankings, the top is Japan. Historically, it's also Japan. The others include Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. Titles wise, Japan is top, Korea and Iran are tied, followed by Saudi and China. Looking at the leagues, the Saudi League may have spent tons of Public Fund money, but they are still well behind MLS in rankings, and behind the Japanese and korean leagues. I don't think the Middle East can necessarily claim to be better than East Asia.

The US doesn't excel in football/soccer because that particular sport isn't the focus of our passion. Our great love/obsession is American football. That being said, our female football/soccer team is fantastic.

The USA got eliminated from participating in the 2018 World Cup because American born players playing for panama and other countries scored on the USA. The USA recruits a bunch of white people (but that is changing) and overlooks our immigrant populations. This is because our “academies” are incentivized to charge $$$ for kids to play, this is how they make most of their revenues. So many incredibly talented players never get a chance and the players that attend aren’t properly challenged to develop the proper skills for the modern game. In South America real academies make the majority of their revenue from selling players, so they are incentivized to develop young guys into really good players that big clubs will want to buy. This difference in focus leads to much better players. We are beginning to see this in basketball too were some Europeans are playing pro from 14-15 and come to the league “more complete” than many of our draftees. The USA women’s game is separate, unfortunately most countries like Brazil just don’t care about the women’s game and do not invest into it so those women must play in the US collegiate system to get a chance. Even so individual awards for the best woman player rarely goes to an American because of the same issues as the American game

The US is ranked 11th in the world, China is ranked In the high 70's. Our current roster is stacked with players who are in teams across Europe's top leagues. While some of what you are saying is true, it's important to acknowledge that China is not even comprable to the US.

Australians don't do cardio, no stamina.

Just look at where australian players play, most of them play in local league. As a measurement look how the japan team has improved in later years, today they have a bunch of players playing in top to medium leagues around europe. So the key here is, if local league is not being enough they need to export talents to evolve in stronger leagues around the world. Once they come back, be it as a coach or be in the coach crew, they can shape the new generation easily.
