Shit, for all we know he learned it himself in college out of respect for his culture. He just said his mom was Mandarin. He probably got that heavy northern accent from hearing her and just having that 1 generation away in his blood. But idk, anyway have a good day!

It's not that crazy anymore. There are tons of black people in China that speak fluent Chinese. Lots of students and traders from Africa. I'm Asian American and had young Black guys translate my English to Mandarin in Shanghai and my English to Japanese in Tokyo on several occasions. It looked funny for sure, but it actually made me look stupid and the young Black guys look super sophisticated and smart, which is good because they earned it. It's very hard to learn Asian languages. You can find lots of Black Americans and Black Brits working in Japan (seen them everywhere from the Apple store to McDonalds) and mostly Africans that own businesses all over China. Literally its very common to see Africans, there are neighborhoods full of African merchants in many large Chinese cities. Especially given China and Africa are working on so much development in Africa right now so the business goes back and forth. People don't give credit to Black people enough - they are about their money too and will learn the skills they need to make money in China. Also, he definitely looks mixed with Chinese.

This was also my comment. I saw the features before I looked at the video. I would not be surprised if he spoke mandarin I would love that he respect the language of his mother. I have to respect if he only considers himself to be black. The mother carries, labors and can die during childbirth, but she is excluded especially if she is White. The one drop rule was a racist oppressive rule by a supremacy group of people. It was also banned by the Supreme Court in the 1960’s. I’m getting off subject.

I would love to see more of this type of video, which is refreshing to get a different perspective on ethnic foods. I like Chinese food too 😋 hopefully you can travel to different places, one day as a food critic. Best of luck and best wishes 🙏🏾 I happy to hear you speak both Chinese and English it makes a great difference to the video and interesting to see. I will be watching your videos.

As a dark colored man that has traveled the world, we will ALWAYS be looked at in this "unwelcoming" way. But, through persistence and bridging the gap through the language barrier, it's possible to earn the respect that is needed to establish that connection with another race. Keep pushing - man of color. Keep pushing.

The absolute joy and relief the express when he speaks their language is so touching. Their eyes light up and they start smiling and seem more enfage and welcoming. Y'all we need to learn all the languages 😂 or teach the next generation tk be fluent in at least 5. The world opens up when we all can understand each other😊

I went to a Chinese restaurant to order to take home. Stood in line and waited for my turn. It was finally my turn the servers kept skipping and continued to take orders from Chinese customers after me. Every time i tried to order, they kept saying, " One moment please," and kept skipping me. After 10-15 minutes later, someone finally asked what I wanted to order. My total came up to about $125. After they packed my order in a plastic bag, i reached into my pocket and gave him 🖕🏾 and said, " I change my mind. This POS restaurant doesn't deserve my money." And walked out.

Because it's not impressive anymore, especially if you have a camera pointed at their faces. They might've been impressed 30 years ago but a person being in china while knowing how to oder food in chinese will not shock anyone at this point.

not always alot of these dialects take years for their own children to even get right and sometimes some dialects and versions of those languages are lost even then. in this case im not sure tbh.
