Review and test of the Chinese TF-1 gas mask, the TF-1 is a copy of the Soviet ShM respirator series but is not really a direct copy of any one mask, it is closest to the ShM-41 due to having a longer filter intake than the GP-5. The plastic filter intake allows the use of both NATO and GOST filters. The mask came with a refillable carbon filter but it had sadly expired before I used it, I will do a video on refilling this filter at a later point.
As the TF-1 can take NATO filters and is incredibly cheap to buy new, about £12, this would be a really good respirator for anybody needing one for actual use, filters will be easy to find for it, the mask is easy to put on, and the mask itself is super cheap.

The TF-1 is surprisingly well made for a Chinese clone. Mine came with a white hose and a green coffee can type filter which has probably long since expired.

XM115 That’s what mine had too, I’m trying to find out what’s in the filter because someone I know told me that those coffee can filters can have pretty bad stuff in them.

I did a little research about what TF is, it's the name of the company who built it called TangFeng that located in Hebei province (not Hubei) which also sells other industrial safety products

Does this offer reliable protection against aerosol viruses or COVID if worn with a Scott Particulate Filter? Seeing they fit quite well onto it.

TF have a newer mainline model called TF-AL now. It based on a copy of 3M 6800 but with a modified valve socket so make it accept both 40mm and 3M bayonet filters.( "AL" means'AL'L type of filters?). Try it if you can found one. I think it's a good design for prepper.

I have a tf-1 gas mask and the latest version to it’s an actual good gas mask from the Chinese (surprisingly). All you need to do is clean it with warm water dish soap, etc ((if you don’t know how to clean it, it’s the same how to clean a gp-5)) for the metal parts I put wd-40 but over all good gas mask 👍

Strange, I have a model from the early 2000s and it refuses to take NATO filters. I guess the Chinese did some reengineering.

How do you mean? Gost was what the Soviets used, NATO STANAG was the NATO connector.

No GOST has been around for ages, GOST is simply the standardised Soviet filter type.

just a suggestion, mate, you could put some subs while speaking in a gasmask with a bad voice diaphragm/no voice diaphragm, i say to you put the subs directly in the video because youtube in android/ios does not have any overlay subtitle in the vids, and this is a problem, because i only have acess to cellphones :^(

Sorry but if I were to add subs I wouldn't be able to make a daily video, I always amplify speech when wearing a mask in editing to make it easier to understand.

Well basically it's a modern Chinese mask, so any modern Chinese filter would go with it, no idea what bags these would be issued with. China used to have green Velcro sealing satchels for respirators.

Sadly, a lot of Chinese people are using these filters for their smog problem, but their smog is primarily a particulate threat, so it doesn't really work.

Doesn't effect breathing just makes the mask bulge up, unsticking it before use totally fixes the issue.

As I've said before, chromium isn't dangerous in the minute amounts used in filters, the US commissioned several independent studies into it and they all found you'd have to be breathing through leaking chromium impregnated filters for literally accumulative years to get around a 1% increased cancer risk
