This is final installment of a series where I am building a little experimental banjo. I thought it would be cute and fun for a small banjo to be themed around a chipmunk. Hope you enjoy!

Even to my untrained ear, the Chipmunk Banjo sounds fantastic! I like the bridge. Nice job! Congratulations on another successful build!

Congratulations on completing the banjo! It looks great - one of a kind - and sounds great, and it was fun to watch you make it 😊. That goat skin reminds me of a little African drum I had as a kid - we lived in Dakar a few years. The skin was stretched between wooden pegs stuck into holes in the wooden body. When it got too loose, maybe 15 years later, I bought a commercial drum-skin, probably made for a bongo - it was quite a lot thicker, anyway - then I had the challenge of tensioning it... I think I used an aluminium ring to pull it down, like the tensioning ring on a banjo, but the details are lost in the mists of time. Anyway, it worked as a drum.

Such a cool story! I love the way the skins each look so different!

Thanks it really turned out excellent and sounds true to form. You play it well and the colors and style really make that a collector instrument.

Daniel, I think you did a great job. I don't know one banjo from another, and I think, to me, this sounds a bit more muted or mellower than some other banjos I've heard, but I could be wrong. This truly is a piece of art, from the aesthetics of the wood work to the sound. I think you did a totally great job on it, and I've enjoyed watching you put it all together. Amazing that this all came out (me watching you) because of a very old sailboat! Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.

Thanks! And thanks so much for taking the time to watch the series. Yeah I like banjos that are less twangy. I like the melodic tones of an open back banjo vs the stiff top resonator kind. I love how youtube can connect people, just like tally ho!

Very nicely done! I enjoyed the whole series. I made a "banjo", many years ago with an axe handle for a neck. Thank you for bringing us along.
