Thank you for the great videos Brian. A very good friend of mine who sadly passed away a few years was a cobbler and I spent many hours with him in his workshop. He like you was a gifted craftsman. You really are a master of your trade, and a refreshing antidote to our throw away society.

your a skilled man for sure. my Dad would go to Mexico to a certain village every 10 years and have the local cobbler make him a pair of mule skin boots specific for his feet. And then he had a specific boot repair shop he would have them resoled at here in kansas. both shops knew each other. the quality of their work was amazing. Your video reminds me of sitting in the shop watching them work. fantastic Job!

Quality craftsman . Like this are unfortunately a dying breed . There are very few people around today with old school skills , handmade put together the way it should be done , , instead , we have machinery churning out thousands a week . . Second grade that fall apart in a few months , , truly a lost art . .

I never understood buying disposable shoes/boots over handcrafted. They last you way longer & get more comfortable the more you wear them. Yes I realize that for somewhere around $100 you can get something cheap & mass produced but they will crap the bed in a few years. I still have my English made RRL Bowery boots looking hardly worn after 5 years now, another pair of Clifton RRL boots made in USA, & of course a pair of viberg boots & derbies. I wear them interchangeably all year round. I hardly baby them & they take a pounding here in the concrete jungle of NYC. I use to do the disposable thing but since I buy handcrafted, I’m done boot/shopping for at least 30 years or so. The shoes/boots just get better with age. Can always buff out imperfections in handcrafted items. Have a noticeable scratch on one of the pair of viberg derbies but when I put some black polish on it, you can’t see it until after several dozen wears & the polish fades. I polish it for a special event. Otherwise, boots & shoes should tell a story.

It is a pleasure to watch a Master craftsman work!!! I had a pair of H.H. Brown boots. That I loved. I had the sole replace. It was obvious that this shop did not know what they were doing. After the second attempt with this shop. I discarded my favorite boots. Which really hurt because the leather was impeccable.

yeah in this case that is because to import a new shoe made in a 4th world country is WAAY cheaper than to pay a skilled craftsman like that
@TheAnnoyingBoss
@TheAnnoyingBoss 4 жыл бұрын
@@kooroshrostami27 I say buy what you can afford that will last the longest. Spend that time getting the money to buy something that will last even if it costs more. You could spend $1000+ and get a bunch of shoes for a lifetime, or spend half and get a bunch that will only last you 3 years, and they will start looking worn out in less than that.
@kooroshrostami27
@kooroshrostami27 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheAnnoyingBoss I agree. I mean a quality rack and bench, dumbbells, Kettlebells last forever basically.

I spent $160 on a pair of Redwing boots years ago and had them resoled 5 years ago by an old craftsman for $50 measly bucks and he put a better sole than the original . That old man died 2 years ago and took a lot of knowledge to his grave . Old Jess had a lot of people at his funeral . We all miss him .

Nice job sir this was a pleasure to watch 👍🏻

Well my friend I really enjoy your KZfaq's it's interesting to watch skillfully tear down a pair of boots and skillfully put them back together. My grandfather my dad's dad was a bookmaker and a shoe maker in Mexico. But unfortunately he drank himself to death so I never got to meet the man. My dad told me stories about him shop was always full he had all the tools he needed and I want you use it tools you use and it just makes me wonder the skill it takes they're on the tools and do it right. I know that in high school to make extra money I took up making cowboy belts chaps for cowboys even saddlebags I even made a couple of saddles. But it occupied too much of my free time so after high school I quit doing leather craft. But I enjoy these tubes it's amazing. Well thank you again my friend and I'll be looking forward to the next one.

The difference between of a new pair of shoes or boots and the older is the time passed, telling stories of the user, all the ways where they were. They have a story.

Salute to this young man and his craft.! I live in the second smallest county in Virginia, and today, in 2019, over 100 years after the invention & promulgation of the automobile, there are more farriers in the county than cobblers. If you cannot chance upon a tolerable fitting shoe/ boot at one of the national chain stores, then you're out of luck - and a vitally important piece of clothing - shoes!
