I think Drew was trying to get the guy to dribble out the clock, because he had both hands out at first, and his body language after the dunk was like, "ok, that's what you did". I don't think the GCU player was necessarily wrong, because the game was over and the guy was having fun with it. But you're right, kudos to him for being up off his knee and on the court as soon as he saw the ball get thrown. I always liked him when he was a player at Valpo. The UTA players maybe had a right to be a little salty about the dunk, but their reactions in frustration were wrong.

I'd normally agree but they laid off on defense and stopped fouling, which is a way of respectfully conceding, and then the other team responds by doing this. It wasn't an earned dunk if there wasn't even any defense. If someone was still guarding him it would have been fine

Not surprised by the reaction. The game was in hand, UTA clearly waived the white flag based on their defensive effort on the play, and the dunk was unnecessary. Not the best reaction in a televised NCAA game but I have seen worse from a local Rec league lol.

What you don’t see is UTA still attempting to foul on that play’s initial in-bound. Refs didn’t call it. Attempting to foul suggests game is on. UTA’s gotta wear it and take the L. Ggs

Nah I don't root for either team but why showboat on a cherry pick when the game is over. They went a little extreme with the ball tossing but it's an intense game a championship at that. I know people going to cry about unwritten rules or whatever but I don't agree. Win with class.

Lose with the same "class". Much more clowny to throw the ball AFTER his teammate shoulder checked #8. Oh, now you're bad?! He was 2 feet away from #8 right after he dunked. Clearly scared to address him face to face he waits until someone else starts it, then throws the basketball.

It’s called sportsmanship. Something a lot of these kids don’t care about any more. You won, game is over and you are at half court showboating, uncalled for. Basically, rubbing it in to the loosing team. I hope someone in the NCAA tournament keeps the starters in and beats this team by 50! Is that OK. Most coaches put subs in and take mercy, or show sportsmanship. The retaliation is uncalled for also. Something both coaches might teach both sides.

@@rpoutlaw86 Scoring when someone is playing D is OK, since I did not see GC walking to the bench and letting UTA score. So if you are playing D, then the other team has a reason to try to score, once you stop playing, or the opponent is cherry picking, then I don’t think it is cool to try to score or showboat. Just dribble the clock out, as most well coached teams would have done. What UTA did in retaliation was totally uncalled for also, so both teams deserve a lesson. Learn about the codes of the game before you comment, or at least what I was taught to be sportsmanship, and as you can see, I am a bit older.

What’s crazy is that nothing illegal happened in the game of basketball in this entire video. The Grand Canyon player who dunked it scored legally and then was touched by an opposing player legally. That wasn’t a foul because it wasn’t forceful. It was a simple touch and then the player who threw the ball at the Grand Canyon player also threw it legally because you can legally throw it in the court to anyone and that’s what he did. All of this was legal so I don’t know why the ref blew the whistle if all this was legal. Usual dirty ref corruption. The ref is only aloud to call a foul on something that’s an actual foul. A ref is not aloud to call a foul on something that isn’t a foul. That’s called cheating. And quite frankly is a disgrace.

Are you high? You can't legally body check your opponents in basketball when it is clearly retaliation. Nor can you purposely throw the ball at them. Aside from that, the 2 losing jokers put more effort into trying to punish number 8 for dunking than they put into the game. Probably why they lost.

UTA.. being silly, immature kids I thought it was a great dunk but I’m 53-year-old old-school guy all this you know there’s no expectation or mandatory like don’t take a last shot. If you don’t wanna take a last shot, play some defense. And the dude that went up and checked the dunker he should’ve been ejected and the dude that threw the ball ejected send a message. That kind of behavior is stupid and there’s nothing wrong with doing a dunk. I think it’s a great way to finish nothing wrong they broke no rule and there’s no protocol. Social respect. Don’t take a last shot. Screw that, the gaming over to it’s over
