She advises detangling the wig, washing it with synthetic wig shampoo, and straightening it thoroughly before starting the curling process. This is a great tutorial. I’m a new wig wearer. Ny fav is RW Selfie mode. 2nd time I watched this, was hopping to avoid doing this, but i fried her a little on the ends, washed her incorecctly, and have spent 2 hrs trying to curl. She still is clumpy amd sticky. Now I will be brave and do exactly what you have done! I have shopped at Chiquel because of you. Thank you for all your videos. Ps. I was very good with a curling iron on my bio hair, not good with a flat iron, but gonna learn.

I tried this today on my Simmer Elite (which looked horrible straightened by the way) and now she's looking so much better. It took quite a few tries and even more patience and time (most of the curls I had to do more than once) but I think I like the new curl pattern more than the one she came with. It's far from perfect but I think she looks more natural now. 🙂😉

I am going to have to purchase two Wavy Days so I can straighten one, love the look of it straight. @chiquelwigs Question: what size flat iron would be the most useful? Would the 1-inch plate work for all curl patterns? I had been looking this past week for a detailed demo for recurring a synthetic wig, and the algorithm dropped this video in my feed, thankfully!

What about hot rollers put in? Can that be done?

I would not leave hot roller in as it may be too much heat and damage the fibers. You could spray with water, use non-heated rollers and put a blow dryer on them. Leave them until dry and cool and then take the rollers out.

Do you have to do this after the first time you wash it? Another words to heat, friendly wigs only look the way they come in that style until they’re washed for the first time??

No, they will keep their original style until you change that style with heat. I had straightened this style with my flatiron.

I used a straightening iron on my beautiful curly Raquel Welch Crowd Pleaser and thought I could use the iron to "flip" the curls- and now it's completely flat. Even with a curling iron, it isn't taking a curl. Bummed. Any thoughts?

Make sure you are leaving the curl curled until it cools!

yes, you can. don't exceed 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The main thing is to allow the piece time to cool before releasing the curl.

Why does it have to be straightened out first? Why couldn't i just go in and re curl or add curl without straightening first?? I'm confused by this

You could just add more curl if that’s what you want. If the fibers need heat to help them look less frizzy, you will need to straighten it to apply the heat.
