Join us as we visit the beautiful Chirk Castle, near Wrexham in Wales, a National Trust property. This is the first stop off on Wales Easter Adventures.
Chirk Castle was built by Sir Roger Mortimer in the late 13th Century and served as border fortress for over 300 years.
In 1595 Sir Thomas Myddelton bought the castle with the intention of turning it into a grand family home.
The Myddelton family owned the castle for over 400 years.
The National Trust took ownership in 1981

Chirk has some lovely gardens to explore too. Like visiting here in May when there are some really colourful rhododendrons and azaleas. That courtyard is a great spot for a cuppa.

Heard of it before but never been, despite going to Wales a few times. To be honest, every time I go there (my brother lives down in South Wales) it always seems to rain and never had weather like that before. The castle itself looked amazing - a proper castle and I would have loved to have worked at a collage like that (we both worked for a local college). Mrs Metalman is coeliac, so that gluten free brownie would have been great for her and shame your dog missed out on so much while there but still, looked a great day out, cheers Alan

Hi guys, always enjoy a visit to a castle. We live near to Belvoir Castle and visit there often . Was interesting to hear the history. It looks very impressive. Boo enjoyed that ice cream and we always love a coffee. Dave likes to go in the stocks. Enjoyed seeing inside the tower. Certainly looks a popular place. Pleased you enjoyed it. Can't believe we missed this one when we were up North last year! Looks like a wonderful castle. My girls would love exploring it, especially seeing the old clothes too. When you see the Ll in Welsh words, get yourself a mouthful of spit and you'll get it right then haha. Great video guys xx

Ooo now we are in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 My word you three get about 🤣 Boo’s on a go slow! Gorgeous day weatherwise to do the 2.5 mile blue root! We really wanted you to sing ‘Castle on a Hill’ 🎤 late 13th century is old great castle storey telling! Looks like a Posh college think Morgs is a secret wizard and went to Hogwarts 😂 Morgs in the stocks shame you didn’t have any fruit Jo lol nice walk around the tower Jo in your element with the Elizabethan costumes! Hi Nick and Jill We had a fabulous few days in Wales over Easter. Jo's singing will appear in one of our upcoming videos from Wales 🙉🤣🤣🤣🤣 That made us laugh, we never thought of Hogwarts. Probably a good job Jo didn't have any fruit or she would have thrown it 🤣 Boo likes to do things on her terms 😂 We definitely got our money's worth from our National Trust membership on our trip to Wales Hope you guys are having a good week

Great video and nice review of the castle. I’ve been there a few times as we’re NT members. From there we visited the pontcycyllte viaduct. And I agree with Jo. That was definitely a castle on the hill 😁

Nice wander around the castle. It was a shame you couldn't take Boo. I can understand the rules for the furnished areas of the interior, but not the gardens seem a bit excessive.
