New Cancers Linked to Camp Lejeune Water Contamination Announced

A new study has been released linking more conditions to exposure to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The CDC's Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. In addition to the existing recognized conditions, the study points to an elevated risk of the following diseases: myeloid cancers, myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative syndromes, cancer of the breast, esophagus, voice box, thyroid and soft tissue, as well as marginal B-cell lymphoma and some types of lung cancer.
The study also indicated that the risks were different for civilians. Those who worked or lived at Camp Lejeune had at least a 20 percent higher risk of all myeloid cancers, certain kinds of lung cancer, and female ductal breast cancer. Additionally, there was an elevated trend for oral cancers, thyroid cancer, acute myelogenous leukemia, blood disorders, B-cell lymphomas, and a specific kind of bladder cancer called nonpapillary transitional cell bladder carcinoma.

I was stationed at Camp LeJeune from 1988 - 1991. I don't believe the Marine Corps closed all of the contaminated water in 1987 since the military is slow at doing anything.

Why is the Media NOT covering this story? It needs to be brought to the full attention of the public and NOT just advertising by law firms seeking clients. If brought to the attention of the public, then its more than likely to receive a public outcry that the government finally do the right thing.

Thanks for sharing. I've had cancer 2x by that mess. Took genetic testing and didn't have the genes for either one.

I was stationed at Camp Geiger for ITS from Jan - March 1987. I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 1989. My left Thyroid was removed because preliminary tests suggested I had Thyroid cancer. Left Thyroid was removed at VA hospital in Atlanta, Ga. Biopsy results were negative for cancer. Should I contact your office?

I was only there in 2008. I was there for less than a year. Hopefully they extend the dates out.

Can't remember what base I was stationed at but they gave us these detection equipment for RADON .Have you heard anything about that yet. This happened in the 1980s. ?
