New Zealand Parliament - 25 June 2024:
One can only repeat the obvious. Chlöe Swarbrick, Sole-Leader of the Mad-Hatter Crazy NZ Green Party, is really nothing more than a motorised parrot aka motor-mouth on a stick. She effectively repeats the same question over and over again, but she never seems to learn from, or understand, the answers. But then, she earns over $200,000 a year, so perhaps she doesn’t really need to care at the end of the day. She knows that there are still plenty of gullible idiots who will still vote for her. Young people who still love the irrational gobbledegook Swarbrick constantly spews out.

If they did, they would support Nuclear and reject the highly unsustainable wind farms that produce tens of thousands of tons of fibreglass waste for landfill. The fact that they don't do either of those things are a huge red flag to me. Nuclear is now safe, clean, and highly effective - it's ridiculous that we aren't embracing it if we want sustainable energy. The greens are clearly not working in the best interests of the environment... just like the other activists like Greta and the criminal Just Stop Oil terrorists.

It would be easier to make progress if both sides agreed to a solution forward. Unfortunately the left are so focused on being 'green' and bowing to climate change, not realizing that in order for us to move there we need to transition over time. We can't just cut our gas supply tomorrow, call ourselves clean and green and have no power, no gas, no money for investment. This country needs a complete strategy with support from all parties to see it through. If that means we use oil and gas drilling for self reliance, energy security and less reliance on global factors then it makes perfect sense for a country to be making that choice and becoming self reliant. We emit less than 1% of global emissions, why should we make things harder and more costly for ourselves. Energy is fundamental to an economy and it will help fund more investment back into the country, including investment in to renewable energy and a cleaner future. What else are we gonna do, run out of gas, have no money to invest in replacing billions in gas infrastructure and drive up electricity costs due to higher demand and the knock on effect that has to driving inflation? Just so we can call ourselves green?

The Green's do not understand the engineering limits of the Transpower managed grid. They have no concept of what a transition to sustainable energy looks like. A case in point is the Onslow "battery" - in which a reserve hyrdo store was to be created in Otago. The stupidity of this idea is clear to everyone with a basic understanding of the engineering ... the "battery" is on the wrong side of the high voltage DC cable. The Genesis 'Grid Scale Battery' at Huntley is a sensible, commercial approach. It is close to the biggest consumers ... Auckland, Tauranga and Hamilton and serves as a time buffer to bring thermal up to steam. The move to sustainability cannot be 'at any cost'. Solar and Wind farms are expensive, they will provide intermittent energy to the grid at a deeply discounted wholesale price to their owners. They will be price takers. The Greens want to make New Zealanders poorer and more energy insecure. They are already attacking our agriculture industry despite the explicit statement in the Paris Accord that food production is exempt. Apparently, these people cannot even run a bicycle shop without committing some form of fraud; they clearly have collective difficulties understanding property rights, they look to mātauranga rather than science and engineering and they read the UN's IPCC AR6 as if it was a blueprint for future policy rather than what it actually is: faulty science interpreted by climate activists to justify insane policy a la Lysenko in Soviet agriculture.

I’m a kiwi about to leave NZ to pursue a career in oil and gas exploration and if given the option I’d be staying in NZ but unfortunately we have absolute nutters who think it’s best we remain dependant on other countries. When you look into how the batteries are made and disposed of for electric vehicles etc it hardly seems worth it. Not to mention the crimes of cobalt mining in various African countries (owned by china). Be realistic NZ we need our resources to be a strong country. Oil and gas is going nowhere and is king.

We need nuclear power, but NZ is too much of a pussy to do so. We don’t have the land or good enough weather to build solar farms or the like and wind turbines are terribly inefficient and noisy. Power prices are going to keep climbing and our energy demand is only going to increase, heat pumps and electric cars 🤦‍♂️the only thing that is saving us is that a lot of people are opting for gas hot water heating 🤷‍♂️
