Chloe's phrasing of the opening melody in the first few bars would make a stone weep. (What a treat! Many thanks to Sharezone!)

Wonderful to see that bright personality shining through at such an early age, the musicality and the love of the instrument. So few people there, that’s a shame. If I’d been there I’d be thinking “sweet mother of god, what am I witnessing here?” But I have to give credit to the recording set up here. Very high quality, unusual for something like this.

Beautiful performance, unfortunately marred by a too loud piano. The subtleties of Chloe's playing drowned in the crashes from the keyboard. For some reason the piano has two microphones, whilst Chloe has none.

I do not agree, the piano substitutes an entire orchestra that would have banged along quite a bit, this certainly is not the place for a shy accompanist. Of course CC is the star, but I enjoyed the performance of the pianist very much.

@@pimogens222 I recommend a book by noted accompanist Gerald Moore titled "Am I Too Loud?". Well worth tracking down. (Published 1962, I believe, but reprints available via the usual South American watercourse.)

@@Pleendriver Thank you for offering a constructive reply. Maybe I have read it, a friend brought an interesting book on accompanying for a holiday, but it is forty years ago, and I remember neither title nor author. (But I recall some of the wisdoms.) Probably not the same book. However, I liked the piano performance, to me it had the spirit of the movement, and see no point in reading a book to convince me that my feelings about it were wrong. I appreciate your point about the microphones though, no need to amplify the accompanist. (Whether it is an accompanying part or not - the orchestra in the original setting surely is more than a bare servant to the soloist.) All the best, p
