Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

Hey everyone! This chocolate buttermilk cake is one of my favorite chocolate cakes. It bakes in a 13x9 inch pan and then it's topped with a yummy buttermilk glaze that soaks into the cake making it super moist and tasty. You just won't believe how good this one is...I hope you try it!

This looks AMAZING!! The moistness is going to be awesome. Refreshing to see a different recipe with the buttermilk glaze also used to put into the cake. Can’t wait to try this!

I saw your video a few ago and couldn’t stop thinking about this cake. So I made it, followed your instructions and it turned out absolutely delicious and amazing. It is the best chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted. It is also the first time I made a cake from scratch, not counting banana cake. Thanks so much ❤️

😊 You probably could but I wouldn’t use the glaze for a layer cake…Wouldn’t probably stack correctly. I do have a chocolate butter cake recipe on my channel that is a layer cake if you want to check that out though!

What you think if i replace the flour with whole grain flour and the sugar with honey ? Thanks! This looks very good +1sub!

I’m honestly not sure how it would turn out. I have a feeling though it would be quiet a bit drier and probably not as tender of a texture. I feel like honey just doesn’t add as much moisture as sugar does. It’s worth a try though!

Oh my goodness. This cake is insanely moist and is the best chocolate cake I have ever had. I used black cocoa and my homemade brown sugar. I absolutely recommend it.

Which do you prefer? Buttermilk recipe or chocolate butter recipe?

I like them both but it depends on what type of cake you’re looking for. They’re both good but different types. So if you’re looking for a layer cake then I’d go with the chocolate butter cake. If you’re wanting a 13x9 inch cake with a glaze that soaks in then go with this buttermilk cake. Both good….just determine what type of cake you want.
