Is surgery always necessary for endometriosis? In his desire to help patients conceive, Dr. Randall A. Loy continues to seek out the latest medical research. Recent studies indicate that surgery to remove endometrioma might lead to a diminished ovarian reserve. As Dr. Loy explains in this episode there are certain times when surgery to remove cysts before IVF can be avoided.
Dr. Randall starts the show with a fantastic story...and yes, it's TRUE! You won't want to miss this one!

you are a good doctor. I encourage women with endometriosis to see Reproductive Endocrinologist instead of a regular OBGYN. surgeon only wants to do operation to cut this and cut that, but infertility specialist helps us to preserve our ovaries and uterus! sometimes medication does shrink and stop the cyst from growing. spend time to talk to them to find a combination of treatment plan first!!!

Hi doctor, what are your thoughts on lupron? I had a 5 cm endrometrioma removed just a couple weeks ago and the doctor wants to put me on lupron for preserving my fertility. Also in the study you mentioned did they cauterize around he ovary or suture post removal? I ask because my understanding is cautery in itself close enough to the ovary can ruin the ovary. Thank you.

I have a 6cm chocolate cyst on my right ovary. It is causing me pain. Should I try and get pregnant still or is it too risky? If I did get surgery, it would be in January and that's a long wait. Help?

Endometriosis is an autoimune disease. I have it! Been having it for years. What you can do is try and change your lifestyle , going vegan as much as you can, drinking celery juice every single morning, and green tea. I am not saying the cyst will go away , I am saying it might . I shrank mine, avoiding surgery, and realising what my body needs and doesn't need . It's an autoimune syndrom that has to be confronted with alternative medicine. Wish you all the luck! P.S. I am 38 and at a very, very child productive stage, still :) Cheers!

@@jelena9leca hello, may I ask the sizes of your chocolate cysts? I was just diagnosed today and mine are big. The doctor said I need a surgery to remove them. I’m so scared now.

@@vie51Hello.❤ First and foremost do not be scared , surgery is the 1st thing doctors like to propose without a doubt. My cyst was 5 cm in diameter but after going vegan, minus soy, minus gluten for 3 moths , it shrank double in size! The point is to lessen the inflammation in your body because even if you go through surgery, endometrioma cysts tend to grow back!. I accidentally found a yt video called "Natural remedies for shrinking chocolate ovarian cyst" by Dilara Aydyn and it helped me tons! She speaks about nutrition and I also used castor oil packs and a hommade remedy of housesleek and honey mixture. There s a whole science behind ednometriosis, but it comes down to our estrogen not tolerating estrogen ingested from animal sources. Also, when eating fruits and veggies we should peel them all. And when u r on ur period drink lemon and apple cider vinegar to stop the meanstrual flow because the more we bleed the bigger the cysts become. Hope this all helped ! 🙌❤

@@jelena9leca thank you so much for all the details! It’s really helpful hearing from someone who had similar experience ❤️ I actually went 90% vegan 3 months before they told me I have 2 big cysts. I wonder whether they were bigger before I went vegan or they are too big to be tackled just by diet. The doctor said they are two big blood bags because there are old blood inside the cysts and it’s not possible to get rid of the old blood without the surgery. Do you know where the old blood go if the cysts naturally shrank by diet and natural remedies ? I image these old blood have to go out after the cysts shrink. I tried to research on that but didn’t find any info. Thanks again for sharing your experience. I’m still in the shocking stage because it was found out yesterday 😭

@@vie51 I do not know where the blood from the cyst goes 😮 , probably the same way out as the natural flow.... Aside from natural treatment, there s another option which I did not like but it could help. They put you in a fake stage of menopause by using the progesteron pills only for 9 months or so. You stop bleeding altogether for as long as you take hormones orally and the cyst shrinks or disappears. You might ask your dr about this. I still have mine , not only 1 but 3! But with proper diet (vegan - plant based) and lifestyle (no smoking no drinking no drugs :)) and NO sugar NO gluten as much as you can, I keep them the same size for years. They feed on excess estrogen. That s why they shrink if you cut the supply of estrogen to your body. Exercising helps too!

how about a 6cm chocolate cyst on a left ovary, can that be somehow shrunk and left alone without the surgery? I'm 25 and want to avoid surgery if at all possible, not looking to get pregnant for another couple years at least. Also, I don't believe that it's just 5-10% of women that have endo, I think it's far more than that. Officially diagnosed, maybe. But even just among women around me, I have 2 close girlfriends with the condition, and believe to have it myself as well. Sounds to me like a lot more than 10%, probably closer to 50%.

Totally unexpected, feeling how it began to shrink and eventually disappear within 2 months was so liberating. I followed the steps I mentioned, and within the first 2 weeks the bloating was gone. I simply go'ogled Tilly Strankten's Ovarian Cyst Guide and it's like I hit the feel-good reset button lol.

I had a 6.5 cm chocolate cyst on my left ovary. Had a lap to have it drained but surgeon couldn’t remove all of the capsule because it was really embedded in the uterus wall. Anyway two months later the cyst was slowly coming back! Been put on mini pill.

did it came back on the same ovary or on the other?
@genie121
@genie121 Жыл бұрын
@@Ann-rp9ee It Came back on the same ovary. I then got put on a progesterone only pill but I kept bleeding. They later changed me to a combined contraceptive pill (yasmin) and I was on it for 6 months before trying for IVF. The scan showed that the cyst remained at 3cm and didn't increase (this was probably due to being on the contraceptive pill, which discouraged it to grow). No symptoms, no pain or discomfort. They are reluctant to do another LAP as the measurement is still below 5cm according to the specialists and they don't really like to interfere surgically. There is another day procedure which can be carried out called "Ultrasound-guided aspiration of ovarian endometriotic cysts" its a day procedure and involves a thin needle making its way towards the ovary and into the chocolate cyst to drain it and then go in with either an antibiotic or alcohol wash to discourage the chocolate cyst from coming back again. It's not 100% but alot of patients chocolate cyst didn't return- and it reduces any need for unecessary LAP surgeries. You do need to find a specialist who can carry this out though - referral to gynecology is one thing but an actual specialist is rare to find. X
