TWD Season 2 could've been an amazing game, but 80% of decisions didn't matter because the writers kept changing each episode, so choices like teaching Sarah how to defend herself got forgotten. Not to mention how much interesting cut content Season 2 had that definitely would have made the game's story better in the first place. Then again, TWAU and TWDS2 were being made at the same time so both games got a little affected. Now, some dialogue options give different and unique scenes like sometimes the silent response but ultimately don't matter too much. TWD: ANF also suffered from writers changing, an extreme amount of cut content and Telltale management issues. I suggest checking out InColdBlood's channel for some more context on cut content and earlier storyline ideas.

Couldn't have said it better myself. One day I wanna make a dedicated video to The Walking Dead game and its ups and downs. Season 2 had many different issues. Teaching Sarah to defend herself was pointless, Nick was sidelined hard if he survived episode 3, episode 4 was kinda a slog to get through, and nobody could fix the wind turbine except Clementine who is 11 years old. Just a whole list of stuff I could mention about that season. Did you know you were originally able to shoot Mike but they got rid of it? That would have made sense and been a good choice to give the player. Regardless I still enjoyed my time with it. Then ANF completely butchered the endings of season 2 with the worst send offs of all time. Completely disrespectful. Season 4 was good but a little bit of the magic was ruined due to ANF.

@@iBrandad Yeah. I know a bunch of stuff that got cut from Season 2, mostly earlier storyline ideas like an entire cut fishing scene in Episode 1, Clementine having the option to go through two paths in the woods, one of the scavengers that ''killed'' Christa actually being Mike (this one still ''exists'' in the game as Luke distrusts Mike for no reason). If you look it up, you can see Season 2 has a lot of cut content that still ''survived'' in the final game, and stuff that doesn't make sense will be explained because of them. There is a really big fake copypasta of ''the real early Season 2 storyline'' which is 95% lies and 5% of actual facts. But yeah like I said, InColdBlood covers a ton of interesting S2 cut content stuff and I suggest giving him a watch.

I think my problems with TTG stem from the way they did the choices. I've enjoyed plenty of games where choices don't have long-lasting effects, and I don't expect every choice to branch the story, but when the game has explicit pop-ups that characters will remember choices you made, or you are presented with big choices like choosing between 2 characters to save, it gives me the expectation that these choices really do matter, so when I later find out that they didn't, it's really hard not to feel robbed. And it's clearly bot impossible, because Detroid Become Human gives a great example on how you can handle this. You have a few big choices that directly branch the story, but most choices are small choices that don't change much on their own. The way they still make many of those feel important however, is by these choices affecting a relationship stat. While these choices individually don't branch the story, the way they change the stats over the course of the game, allows the game to also branch based on those stats. Overall, this creates an experience where it feels like everything mattered.

I think my first exposure to Choice-based games was Heavy Rain. Easily one of my favorite and classic choice-based games that really got me into this genre. The atmosphere and plot really sets the game's intensity, making you really connect with the characters and be on a major lookout for the incoming choices that could mean life or death.

Can you imagine if the guys who did Until Dawn did a Walking Dead game?

It would be a legendary piece of art. That would be really cool to see. Until Dawn is such a good game.

@@iBrandad It sure would! Would do AMC a lot of good since most people hate the spin offs and games based off of the main show.

I found you in TWD Definitive series comunity, i dont regret it, u have a cool edition and im going to suscribe PD:I think detroit become human is the best Choice based game, it haves like 99+ Endings and i think thats one of the most important things i think, i dint played it since my pc is a potato but it is really cool since what i have seen.

Absolutely, David Cage Games have stories that actually reflect your choices. That reminds me of the two things Telltale did lie about every time. First lie: "This game series adapts to the choices you make. The story is tailored by how you play" Second lie: "XYZ will remember that" I mean it was already mentioned in the video but nonetheless it's always been the main selling point of a Telltale game, and that point just isn't worth anything. And you know what? I still love playing Telltale games. At the moment I'm finally playing through the TWDG saga, I'm on season 4. And I'm also playing through Telltale's Expanse. Maybe the decisions don't count, but you have to see it more like a film, where you get to decide for yourself what is said from time to time.

@@WitchDoctorLarry Yeah, at least telltale learn a little about their errors, and even when decisions dont matter, they make you feel they did. I remember minecraft story mode, i played that game so many times that once i wanted to be agresive with everyone and i insulted lukas. When lukas had to go for his friends he remembered me how bad i threated him. Also the thing on telltale are the feelings, almost everything on telltale makes you cry (except TWD ANF, but that dont makes it a bad game) (SPOILERS) Like the lee death, i dint cried, i have seen 90 times the game before playing, but man. Probably i would have cried since i got kinda sad if it was the first time. I passed Season 2 without too many spoilers and man, i had to say goodbye to my favorite character, Kenny. It was for a greater good (until ANF ruined almost everything). And the big plot twist on S4 (SPOILERS), i dint cried so much, it was the final chapter and everyone knew that she would get bitten. But that plow twist was unexpected, lol. Also, I havent played any of David Cage games, but at least in detroit become human, the only one i watched. There arent many emotions except hank, maybe? I dint played their games since i need a good pc, and detroit become human is going to be played, at least one day. But am excited when i get a good graphic card, Its gonna be cool to play their other games. So i dint spoil me so much
