Good discussion. I’ve been a knife-guy since I was 8 years old (1967) and my Dad gave me an official Cub Scout Pocket Knife. Except for 3 months at MCRD, I’ve carried a knife every day for 57 years. I’m not sure I hate any knife company. There are companies I don’t buy from. And some that I like to keep up with. And I’m drawn to channels that have similar taste in knives as me. Your channel is one of those. 👍🏼👍🏼 🇺🇸

Cold Steel has always been solid and they still are. I discoved them in them in the mid '90's and I think that they peaked with their Black Sable, Black Talon, Tanto and Trailmaster in San Mai III (still have a couple of each tucked away). I haven't bought any of their newer stuff since Tompson sold the place but it still looks solid. It's not as inspired as it used to be under his larping influence but it's still solid. They were solid enough that I made sure that my late wife had a recon tanto and knew how to use it. Each vehicle had a recon tanto and an Esee 4. If you ever get a chance to try the Cold Steel Laredo Bowie first gen with the sharpened clip point, the plastic wood grain handle and the tuck in belt sheath it's a treat. Handle is a bit slick if you're a sweaty guy but I don't think anything in the last 15 years can touch it as a fighters knife. I have two of them, one a second, tucked away. Lived in Cali back in the day and used to hit their summer parking lot sale, was lots of fun and they'd haggle for cash. Knives are like ladies to me. Some like petite, some like big booties, I had a friend who liked giant witchie poo hooked noses. I don't get why knife guys bicker about variations in blades but i see the same thing in the pew-pew forums. Everone has their preference but we're still all knife guys. In my younger days when I lived in Cali I liked folders because that's what was legal to carry but still collected fixies. Now I live where there's a fixie (and a pew-pew) on most belts and my aging hands aren't as good with folders so I'm a fixie guy for the last decade. Scab seems to love the big honking Shrek blades, I can appreciate them and collect them but they aren't my edc. We're all knife guys. I lived in Mandeville, Lousiana for a couple of years in middle school, the cajun dialect was a lot of fun and those old boys were some of the coolest people I've met when you could understand them. Ran into some of the other dialects you mentioned when I worked on my masters at the Savannah River Plant back in 89. Neat people but still had more fun with the Cajuns, those boys were wild. You remind me of the old John Wayne quote that has applied to the way I deal with most people. 'I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on, I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.' That doesn't seem to translate well in this internet age but it is the way I am, if they can't deal with it, too bad. There doesn't seem to be any problem communicating this philosophy in person but internet muscles seem to get in the way.

I am, unashamedly, a Bradford Fanboy! Great designs, materials, and heat treats plus they actually listen to, AND ACT UPON, customer feedback. 100% American Made, customizable, fixed blades. The company doing their DLC Coating apparently closed it's doors, but they just found another one that can meet their standards and should be dropping some DLC Coated Magnacut 3.2's in a few months. I know that because I emailed them and they told me. That simple.

With Cold Steel I hear a lot of people say their stuff came dull. I never got one dull from them. I had a couple bad heat treats, but out of many. For me, the only issue is with their customer service, but that doesn't change that they make some of my favorite stuff

I find the southern language dialects interesting. I've heard them all. My wife has a southern Virginia accent that comes out with a twang when she doesn't mean it to. I smile and tease her about it when it happens.

As a historian and a lover of knives I think it doesn't matter how people pronounce Bowie as kong as we are still saying the name Bowie near 190 years after rhe death of Jim Bowie. Keep history alive. Nice little lesson in linguistics there. I cant really say I hate any knife companies. Although I certainly like some more than others. But like you I don't really care for Esee designs. Emerson definitely has haters too. A lot of Work Tuff Gear designs don't really connect with me, but then there's some that really fo as well . I was told a long long time ago is that it doesn't cost anything to be nice. I've had a cold steel in my pocket in one type or another since the late 80's. I also have a few bucks. One of the things every company should make is ambi pocket clips.

I've carried the bk2 as my first good fixed blade then I got the buck 119 in s35vn an it blew my mind the quality. Then I got my first cold steel pocket knife, the sr1 lite an the Luzon large an I became a major fan of cold steel an love the community around it, I now carry the 4max aus10a an the rajah 2 aus10a. Everyone got to find that click for them in the knife world no matter the brand.

I used to think cold steel was a goofy knife company but then my buddy let me use an older model Voyager that was Japanese made in vg10 and i was impressed. Bought the newer version from Taiwan with aus 10 and i was still impressed. Now i have the xl vaquero serrated and i don't think they're goofy anymore, the marketing is goofy and fun but the knives are tough as heck

LOL, I have become a fanboy of Spyderco. I enjoy Cold Steel and Demko Knives.

You get my designs first because in a time when people who reviewed my designs didnt understand them, YOU used them, YOU beat on them and YOU gave a fair review noting just how much thought must go into a reverse tanto, big bellied, multi grip position knife that doesnt break the bank mean to people who USE their knives. Back before you blew up, you give everyone a fair shake and upon becoming friends, we have a similar story. So yeah, I'll ride with you till your head swells up and falls off man. For those who complain about WorkTuffGear not making enough knives, quality over everything, period, the defense rests. If I wanted a company to make my designs by the thousands but sacrifice one iota of quality, I would work with those companies. As a fan of small batch production, guess what I have to wait my turn or scour the secondary for those awesome blades too. Thank you to those who enjoy my work, thank you to those who have been with me from jump and thank you to those who see something different and think "Man that looks like alot of fun, lets give THAT a swing" and thank you for being you Scott aka Scabber!

I own a lot of brands personally, but the only two I'm having direct thoughts on is Spyderco just not releasing that many new designs over recent years and hyping mostly the same catalog each year just in new materials and CRKT lately having a lot of inconsistent and even bad sharpening from the factory. I have Miguron, SOG, Gerber, Cold Steel, Condor, Schrade, Kansept, Kizer, Kershaw, Civivi, Bestech Ganzo, Twosun, Kabar, Buck, Squid Industries, HOM, Palethius, Benchmade, and probably more. Spyderco is a great brand, they're just plagued by stagnation and the fanboys don't care because "new color, new material" jazz. I looked at their most recent release catalog, it literally has ONE new model, maybe TWO, but everything else in it is just old designs different colors and material and that's LAZY to me and needs discussion directly to them. I have a Manix XL I've carried for 8+ years alongside my Recon 1. I personally worry about Cold Steel's future under new ownership and Spyderco needs to get back on the wagon with emphasis on getting new designs however they can because they're stale, they're too complacent is my biggest gripe.

Can't say I hate any brand. I am a Spyderco fanboy though. That said there are still models I'd never buy. There are companies I shy away from for one reason or another. Benchmade for example. Great products but for the money you're not getting as much as you could from other companies.

Cold Steel is probably the closest company I have to being a fanboy for, cause I own a lot of their stuff. To me, be it folders, fixed, axes, walking sticks, spears, etc., for the money invested the actual product can't be beat. A combination of quality meets value for dollar meets incredible selection. That said they have stuff I don't like and some of the criticisms of the company and their products I can completely understand. Funny enough, for a while, I didn't care for Spyderco. Nothing against the company, its just I didn't care for how their knives looked. Now I own three of them - Resilience, Yojumbo, and Native Chief, and I'm a big fan. So there's an instance of going from a company I didn't care for to one I absolutely love now.

The part that gets me is we all have knife companies that we like/dislike. I have a few I dislike. I don’t get on EVERY video with those disliked knives and feel I have to let everyone know about it. I just let people enjoy their knives and most of all I have a life, and a busy one at that. There are guys that’ll get on every video of a knife they dislike and just plague the comments and talk trash like a loser on some blade forum. Some people just need to get a life. Good rant Scab

It's funny Benchmade made one of the best large folders in the 90s and I loved them and then after that, I hate them !! Mora is another one I can't stand I'd throw it in the trash I don't care for them at all and yes I know they're a great knife for the money. The funny thing about pronunciation bring up how to say Appalachian I'm from the smoky mountains in NC and I say it App-uh-latch-uh now the people up north or west of the Mississippi say it App-uh-lay-shuh people will argue like crazy about that. By the way, the way we say it is correct lol but personally I don't care it just tells me you're not from around here.

Im a Buck fan, collect them. Cant understand anyone caring if others dont like the brand, their knives. Dont like Benchmade myself, grossly overpriced in my opinion. Can buy 3-4 Bucks for the price of 1. However if you like them, got the money and wanna spend it on them, glad they make you happy. Too many cranky know it alls in the youtube knife world for sure. My big gripe, a knife made for skinning, processing game ain't a great option to beat through wood, pry with. How this eacapes people I dont understand. The same applies to a "hard use" knife. Not gonna process game as well. Some real Einsteins out there.

When I think of knife hate I always think of Kershaw and what they did to Chris Tanner. If you want to know about hate, that is probably the best example out there.
