@@Imowe_ Up is one of the best movies I've ever seen and I don't want you to think I'm one of those people who write off Pixar as being "for the kids". Pixar movies are indeed deep and meaningful and strike a very good balance between having a fun story for kids to connect with and also mature themes that entertain adults too. That being said, there is a point beyond which trying to "find the hidden details" in these films get ridiculous. This feels like one such instance to me.

For those wondering the real reason. It was the house, the old paint and mold cause her to be infertile. They played in that house all day when they were little kids. And bought the home, renovated but kept some of the old wood and paint. That's the reason. That's the reason he wouldn't part the home either.

Unfortunately adoption isn't an "easy" process. It is expensive, invasive, and time consuming. Yes, those are all things it seems that should be expected with kids, but that is on top of raising the kid and living a life. Then, you have the foster/adoption system in general. While in theory a good idea, it breaks kids during their formative years. Very few babies are put up for adoption as infants, so most of the children who are adoptable have been institutionalized by the system they were forced to endure while holding hope that their parent would love them enough to change their life around. By the time the courts give up trying to reunite the families, the children have disappointment, distrust, and fear ingrained into their core. These are core traits that don't just heal themselves. It takes years of CBT, counseling, and effort from all parties to break that mindset and reform it into a relationship that can be seen as positive. It takes a special kind of person to go through all of that and come out successfully both for the adopter and adopted.

This part gets me every single time. As someone who has suffered has suffered 7 miscarriages and went through fertility treatments for 9 years, this part made me feel SEEN. No one understands infertility or infant loss unless they’ve experienced it for themselves. You walk around seeing everyone doing this thing that is supposed to be the most natural thing in the world but you can’t do it and it’s devastating. You live in constant fear of others happiness. “Happy for you but sad for me” becomes your mantra. Unsolicited advice from well meaning family and friends, the question “when are you going to have a baby?” Or “why don’t you just adopt?” It comes at your from all sides. If you are experiencing infertility or have experienced infant loss or miscarriage, you are not alone. There are many of us out there living with the same kind of pain. I’m sending you love and light. If you know someone experiencing infertility, don’t give unsolicited advice, don’t ask when they’re going to get pregnant, don’t offer your kids as a joke, just be there. Be a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, a hug can help more than you think. Just being there is appreciated. ❤

Lead paint. Not only did they strip a very very old house, but they allowed the paint they were using completely onto their skin without protection. My cousins daughter when she was three years old, was eating the paint out of her windowsill, and when he discovered what she was doing, he took her to the emergency room and they found three times the amount of lead in her system that would normally kill someone. He absolutely stood there screaming and demanding her to be life flighted immediately to the nearest Children’s Hospital within the hour. She survived with minimal brain damage. As someone who has had multiple miscarriages, this scene hit me like a ton of bricks. I know what it feels like to be in that room, having that conversation, and feeling the overwhelming loss. And husbands (good ones at least) are just as helpless because they cant fix anything.
@Shelive520

It’s unfortunate you know this pain. I’ve never miscarried because I struggle to conceive (due to reproductive issues like a tumor that took my right ovary and another that took 20% of my left) and the feelings that go along with being a women who can’t bring life into the world like I should be able to for my husband and I , so that’s my own burden. However, I could never imagine going through a miscarriage. My friends daughter just experienced one. She is newly married. She used her pain to make art but I just didn’t know what to say to her in those moments of course.

As someone who was told in there mid 20s that the children I had were the only children I was going to have. I feel blessed to have any at all. But I know the pain of being told that that gift is being taken away from you. It’s heartbreaking, especially if you want to be parents.

@@tvirus9369 orphans did exist, but what they're saying is it's not quite the same as making and having your own child. Which I agree, it isn't the same, although it is still a wonderful process

I always assumed, they were so excited to have a baby, they decorated the nursery even before she was pregnant. Then after not conceiving for a while, went to the doctor, and after tests, he explained they couldn’t have children 😢
