PACK RATS! I had a really nice mohair made, only got to use it a a couple times. Was gone during most the summer. When I came back only the rings and center piece were left 😢 found the shredded mohair in the carburetor of my truck!

I find it interesting that you have a 28” cinch. I would love to see your opinion on cinch length. You’ve definitely convinced me to go with a horsehair cinch.

Now that I can use your terminology, let me ask my question about center bars again. I have always used mohair roper cinches but a pack rat chewed a couple strands on mine and I should probably get a new one. In stores, there are cinches that have a fairly wide center bar made of leather inside and out. Regardless of the need to oil them like you answered before, I am wondering what you think about the wear on the horse's girth area. I can already guess what you think given the fact that these would really need to be centered on the horse at all times to fit in the groove in the horse's girth area. They seem to be very popular these days but they never looked right to me. What can you say about these? I do mountain riding and have never liked neoprene or fleece, I think they are for arena events.
