I've watched thousands of hours of videos on various learning topics, and by far the way you present and articulate the material is among the best. Clearly you know your subject and you have a passion for imparting that knowledge upon others. Thank you!!!

Your visuals are EXTREMELY helpful & clarifying. Also, super thanks for having a slightly slower rate of speech than many statisticians, also actual examples worked into every single level or type of test. VERY helpful.

Excellent presentation. Very helpful. Just want to point out that pain scale 1 to 10 is ordinal data, therefore, it's not quantitative, and it needs to be treated as categorical data. You can use the median or mode as a measure with it. Thank You.
@erichgoldstein656

You are absolutely correct, and I should have said that in the video. In health care (and in a lot of other fields) people use Likert data all the time as if it were interval data. But it isn't, and I'm sure statisticians pull their hair out over it.
@brianxyz
@brianxyz 7 жыл бұрын
Treating Likert data as interval data isn't always wrong and there's no consensus as to what's right and wrong. From a strictly theoretical point of view you probably should never treat Likert scale data as interval data but if you strictly followed the assumptions for every statistical test how often could use them? Have a look at this article "Likert scales, levels of measurement and the “laws” of statistics" (link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10459-010-9222-y) and read "Can Likert Scale Data ever be Continuous?" at www.theanalysisfactor.com/can-likert-scale-data-ever-be-continuous/.

Sorry if this is a stupid questions, but isn't a pain scale from 1 -10 categorical data? What does it make it different from using words assigned to every level of pain like: insufferable pain, very intense pain, intense pain, etc.?

I like the way you simply it. I am new in statistics am I am wondering which test to use for my data. I have one dependent variable and six independent variable and I am interested in establishing how the independent variable affect the dependent variable. For all the six Independent variables, I have the first level of responses which are purely categorical and five levels of responses (Very highly, highly, moderately, lowly and no effect) under the independent variables. If I have to test for hypothesis (Based on relationship between dependent and independent variables), how do I use the five categories of responses??

which statistical test should i apply for comparing outcome results of two different therapies given for a particular disease?
@erichgoldstein656

It depends on what the outcomes are, or how they are being measured. If they are quantitative, like days without pain, then a 2 sample t test. If they are categorical like "solved the problem yes or no" then a 2 sample proportions test.
