I’ve been enchanted by the Kawai K200 sound, so warm, soft, and velvety. I know that the other versions may offer a richer sound range but there is some kind of magic in the way K200 reveals itself. I’ve recently bought one and I LOVE it. It’s my absolute darling 😊

Finist .... well, that’s a wonderful thing to hear. At The Piano Shop we usually have K200, 300 and 500s in close proximity which allows us to compare the different types within the Kawai range. Have you played the other pianos in the range? If you have you’ll notice that the playing action is virtually identical with only a little bass reduced with the K200 due to its marginally smaller sound board, and depending on the acoustics of the room it can be impossible to tell them apart. I. Also love the K200 and am delighted that it’s your little darling. Robb.

Does the K-200 Dark Walnut finish has the Logo inside of the upper lid like the Polished Ebony cabinet?

I am so impressed with the Kawai Pianos today. Their Uprights sound like grands! Fantastic Sound. Kawai has always made a great piano. I have a 1966 Kawai 750 7' 4" grand that has proven itself over time. Brilliant sound. I also have a 1982 Kawai UST-7 that is a tank!!! Both have the most beautiful sound and have held onto their power over the many years. Great video!

We're so pleased that you're so pleased with your Kawai pianos. We have older and brand new ones at the Piano Shop, and they never disappoint. You are correct in your comment about their sound being like those of a Grand. We have new Uprights next to Grand pianos and I often move between them when demonstrating them. Unless its a big Grand, the difference is so difficult to discriminate.

I tested a K - 200 here in Brazil today. My reaction was: "WOW. Is this really an upright piano?" Then I tested the other pianos in the store (about 15 pianos, including 4 grands from Kawai, Fritz Dobbert and Rittmüller). Then I went back to the K200 . My reaction again was: WOW. This piano (and I believe the entire K series) has a sound of a FULL grand piano. You Tube videos won't show you the full beautifulness of this piano. The mechanics are perfect as well. A simple C major chord with a deep C bass gave me chills in the spine. The piano was VERY small for what it sounded like. It was even funny if you ask me. Like those small skinny guys with a deep voice that do not match, just for an analogy. The timbre is warm and suited for classical music.

Robb Lawton Not sure, very afraid of disturb neighbors. I live in a small apartment, I'm still considering methods of acoustic insulation specially towards the lower floor neighbor (there are no shared walls in the sides or above my room in which the piano will stay). Do you have any experience with this issue? Would a small piano like this disturb nearby people? It's not a cheap piano, I don't want to miss the decision...

I am a professional level pianist and i bought K300 silent today. It has a powerful sound and controllable keys. ppp to fff is easier to other cheap upright pianos. And it has OK price.

Is the kawai K-200 good for a starter quality piano? I'm a beginner and know nothing except for Mary had a little lamb. I want a good piano so I can have one that I can learn and use for decades without worrying about it being not good quality. If there is any other good beginner pianos you think is better suited for me, please reply asap

The K200 is more than 'good enough' for a beginner. It's a quality instrument that will definitely last for decades. It has a great action and it well-built. I've never been disappointed with a Kawai piano, and I always loved its predecessor the K2. There are other pianos that will match the K200, but probably not on price as well. Yamaha, Heassler, Wilh Steinberg and many more are all superb instruments, but when you play them along side the Kawai K200 you will see real advantage, other than the K200 price .....

The Piano Shop Bath awesome! Thanks for helping me, also will there be newer generations of these coming anytime soon? I don't want to buy a expensive piano and have a new one come out the next day, also do you think these stand up pianos are better than electric pianos for beginners?

If you're a 'starter' the K200 will be perfect. Kawai is a premier Japanese piano manufacturer. Although Japanese they have many components manufactured in Indonesia, and final assembly of their smaller pianos in Indonesia. This does not appear to detract from quality. There will be little benefit to you purchasing the K300.

Hi, I have a question about my Kawai K 300, if you got time?:) ..when I play staccato or hit a key and releases it the hammer hits the strings twice.. this is rather annoying, since the piano plays out two clear notes instead of one... is this normal? Should this happen? I would think one should be able to play staccato or hit a chord rather hard without the piano playing two chords or notes instead of one?!?! Please answer?!:)

Derik von Soltanjan I did, he told me it was completely normal.. so then, I turned to the internet, and it turns out its Not Normal! After getting replies here and there, I have now contacted another piano tuner, to have it looked at!

Hello, I have a question. Which is a better purchase. The kawai GM10 or and upright K300 or K500. . I play at a grade 8 level and I would just like a really nice piano to help me get further in my piano studies. My teacher uses a yamaha u1. Its a very bright sound not my favorite. I do prefer the sound of the upright better then the grand but will a grand action get me further.
