Whenever you are feeling overwhelmed and like you are not doing enough or not meeting your goals. I want you to know that you have done so much more than you could ever imagine for your followers. At least for me; you have helped me get through some really tough times. Thanks to your channel and your creativity, I discovered creative planning. Which has helped me channel my emotions and deal with my depression. I've been hospitalized before due to a suicide attempt. This year was extremely stressful, but I was ok. A big reason for that, I believe, is because of creative planning. I get excited when I get new stickers and I love making fun, cute spreads. I just want to thank you for that. Please don't ever feel like you are not doing enough. Because for some of us, you are doing so much more than you could ever imagine. Thank you 💓

I use the monthly tabs to divide my catch-all into sections. Because I have multiple planners available( I look for sales!), I use 3 or 4 "December" dividers in one planner: one for health, one for journal, one for planning. And then on to the next month. Sometimes I still don't fill out every day, so will throw out a whole week if necessary. I want my planner full, not perfect, because I get really busy and that's okay. Hope this is helpful to someone. ❤

That’s pretty much what I’ve decided for 2024 too. I found I wasn’t keeping up when my planners were all separate, so hoping by combining all into one planner with sections, will help because I’m only having to grab one book and everything will be front of mind.

I loved your candor in this video. I understand that many people probably put pressure on you as a KZfaq content creator to be “perfect” in your planning. I appreciate seeing the reality of how life sometimes gets in the way of our plans. Goals often fall behind. I am personally in the same boat and have been reflecting on this year to hopefully set better goals next year. I also am planning to establish some routines to help keep me on track and be more productive. I am right there with you.

I can relate to every single thing you said. I am going through these same questions trying to figure out my planners for next year. I still haven’t decided what I’m using. I don’t want to overcommit on my number of planners. I want to prioritize productivity. I get caught up in the decoration and don’t use my planner to its potential. I am overwhelmed by everything so I don’t do anything! My brain doesn’t work as well as it used too-a combination of age and bereavement overload. Thank you for posting such a relatable video!

I know how hard this has been for me being new to Happy Planner but I can only imagine how hard it must be for you because you do this for a living, but have also done it for a long time. Just know the number of planners a content creator decides to use doesn’t affect me or if I will watch them or not. We are all different and I am old enough to know there is no right way. I can be happy for them that they are able to do something that I already know I will not do. Great video! 💕

Always appericate your authenticity!!! Very brave to share your thoughts as openly in this kind of space. I feel you on the options and kinds, types of things to use a planner for. Although I've enjoyed your style in whatever you create; stick to what you love and ebb, flow through that. It doesn't matter what you choose or don't; your audience is here because of your talent, openness and planner fun. I know I am.

I have to admit I'm so envious of all the stickers/planners you receive, but I've never thought about the overwhelmingness of it all. It seems like you make great use of it and are always grateful for it too. Funny to hear you talk about "the judge inside you". I heard that years ago on an Oprah show. Of course that was on weight loss and how we as women are constantly beating ourselves up. We have a constant "I'll do better tomorrow" going on, and when we don't it feeds the failure bug to us. ugh. So, your plight is so understandable and don't beat yourself up over starting this planner or that and not carrying through with it all year. You are still giving us ideas! BTW, I also love the idea of bullet journaling, junk journaling and would love to see your ideas on a reading journal. Whatever you do it will be what is right for you...and if not, chuck it and start fresh!

Mary Ellen, I’ve always enjoyed your videos. Watching this video today just reminded me that being a planner is not about filling up every page every week in your planner. Regardless of whether it’s a creative planner, a wellness planner a budget planner. It reminded me of the first years that I started planning or going back to my very first planner in my life which is early 20s in my adult life, I never had a problem with planning. It wasn’t until I discovered the Planner community and I discovered all the options and all the pretty shiny things that I started to have an issue with planning. So watching your video just made me realize that, planning doesn’t have to be complicated at all. It’s just supposed to help us remember things that we have to do, simple as that. But I can definitely relate with you on so many levels, especially with feeling overwhelmed, loving all the pretty things, and taking on too much that then we can handle. so for me, hearing you talk about and process your ideas helped me realize that going back to just simple basic planning is the answer for me, and whenever I’m in the mood to do a little extra like decorating or junk journaling, then I will. But that’s just extra! love your videos

Consider taking the dividers out of a Happy Planner Notes book and adding them to the back of your Planner. Create a long term goals spread and a short term goals spread and put it in the goals section. Then takes some paper from the notebook and add it to that section. You can create a master list of reoccurring tasks in a Word document and print it out as often as needed. Add it to the list section of your Planner. You can also use the half sheets for list and move it from week to week. You could also create a wellness section in your planner. If you create a monthly wellness plan in that section instead of a weekly or daily plan you might be more successful. I believe people use multiple planners because no one planner meets all of our needs. Sometimes adding sections can replace extra planners.

I am using a classic vertical and a meal planning layout. That's it. I will use the monthly section of the meal planning one for "little victories" each day, recommended by my therapist. I'm a "if you give a mouse a cookie" perfectionist too. If I am going to wake up early, then I might as well get a skincare routine, buy a new wardrobe, meditate, exercise, eat every meal from home, make everything from scratch, etc.

I can totally relate to this video. The joy of a discbound system for me is the ability to add/move pages that fit what I currently need. So, I think adding goal pages into your main planner might work for you or even having a goal section. I tried many things, but having a frankenplanner is definitely something I will keep in 2024. I'm trying to decide if I want to add a wellness section or keep that separate. I promised myself to keep up with my journal next year (tired of the mountain of sticky notes on everything) and my meal planner is the one thing I must keep separate.

Yes!! We all need real life confessions. I’ve tried very unsuccessfully to maintain just more than one planner! Even a dang reading planner I’ve failed to keep up with. I can barely bang out a weekly spread consistently! The bottom line is planning is an enhancement to our lives. If we are stressed about multiple planners I think we are missing the point. But I get it. I am Type A and need to feel in control of my life to cope too. It’s the “fun” of being an INFJ! 😂

I love the intersectionality of creativity & productivity that exist in my planner. As another woman with ADHD, I find the dashboard planner most useful because I can do a big to-do dump every week but, I understand the dayblocks aren't for everyone. I find them good for either journaling, or a daily to-do. Sometimes they're just for reminder stickers/decor. But, my weekly spreads all look extremely similar.

I wish you wouldn’t say that having ideas that don’t work means you failed. Maybe the trick is to increase the functionality of your planner is to use various stickers in a weekly layout that cater to all the categories. My main items I want to track are: to do lists, wishlist, weekly budget, shopping list. I have decided to use one BIG HP and I also decided one is not enough! So I am creating a travel bucket list using the bright travels 18 month planner. It will highlight every country in the world using the categories: YES!, Maybe, Undecided & NOPE! So we will see how that goes 😂

I haven't thought about a creative journal until recently. I have several sketchbooks lying around I doodle in and use them for swatching my materials. I totally understand how you feel about too many planners. I look at all the sizes and designs and I want them all, but for me, it is how the inside works. I haven't found a layout that works. As a Graphic Designer, I could just make one but meh. I swear you are saying the words that are coming out of my head. I get caught up with life and then I get off track. Thank you for being so open about all this! I love planning, and I love the feeling of being organized. I do a lot of my organization and planning in Notion, but I love having physical planners with notebook pages where I do long-term project planning, that seems to work better for me actually writing it down. I look forward to whatever you decide! Love watching your channel!

Love how relatable this is! For my 2024 lineup, I'm only focusing on keeping up with 2 planners. One is a classic HP planner that has three parts sectioned by bookmarks - budget, fitness/wellness, and catchall. For the guts of that planner, I'm using the Bright Budget layout, the Be Bold Fitness layout, and the Moody Folk Vertical layout. I'm only going to put in 3 months since I'm combining these three layouts into one planner. For planner number two, I'll be creating my own reading journal using pages I created on Canva and some of my leftover HP covers, discs, and dashboards. Wishing you planner peace!

Last month I made a transformer planner with different covers for the different sections like fitness, hourly schedule, journaling, note taking. It is living in a classic journal with a zip-up portfolio cover for so it is super portable and classy for work. Some pages are custom printed inserts, many are shopped from my stash. Thank you for sharing your process of selecting planners for 2024! I am looking forward to see what planners you end up using in 2024. I decided to take a different approach to planners this year in that I decided to use separate planners for different areas of my life - catch-all, work, health/fitness, creative and so on - because it is easier for me to focus on one area at a time. LOVE your videos! You inspire me!!

Congratz on your 💍! I tried wellness and i suck at that along with habit tracking. I bought "The Very Busy" planner which is kind of like a guided journal. Then i have a daphne's diary journal 4 some free flow of thoughts. Then i have my work planner and home planner from HP. Nxt year ill have an overlap because im using kellofaplans teacher planner 4 work but bought a new work planner for the new yr. Ive decided 2 make it my creative journal. My planners are mostly for decorating. ...not so much planning lol.

This year, I'm using the continuation of my 18-month planners I had already bought. I have returned to vertical for everything because, for me, it's so versatile. I have my life catch all, work and budget that I combine, and my wellness is a separate planner.

I just started incorporating more master to-do lists in my spreads. I found that what works best for me is using the sidebar as a master to-do list and then moving the tasks to a certain day during the week to make sure that everything gets done.

Allso try the monthly layout. The first two pages for goals and the rest for a masters list. Plan with ilysse does this beautifully.

This video was so helpful. I already picked out my planners but then started wanting to incorporate goal setting and habit tracking (most likely 1 new habit per month). I’m still thinking on it.

I get everything you are saying. Forget trying to be disciplined, just get what works for you. I always wanted to use vertical so I could decorate more, but dashboard is just so practical for me. It’s like my reading, I had to get use to dnf (did not finish) and be ok with it. Do what you want even if you decorate and don’t use , who cares. I love your videos

I'm right there with you on not being as productive as I want to be. Thank you for addressing this (probably common) issue. 🤗 Maybe you can express your creativity in your Patron spreads, leaving your personal planner for the productivity part of your life. 😊

Thank for such an honest video. I really feel for you. I have ADHD, too and didn't catch up in my planners this year. It is hard not to listen the inner judge, but let's try each day just tiny little bit more... What is working for me? I'm using a Classic Vertical for my catch all, I include some half sheets for weekly lists if necessary and I've created monthly pages for my mood and habit tracking, besides I have a Mini Dashboard planner for when I'm on the way. It brings me lots of joy watching you getting up each time again. Thank you so much.

Hi! Loved this video. What changed for me was making the system first then adding the planner. I decided i was going to get up early and do 3 things. 1. Have a quite time 2. Have a learning time. 3. Go on a walk. It was then easy to add a planner to track all of these things. I also didnt an to do it for the whom year i started with chucnks of time. Everything from 6 weeks or from week 1 to a trip i was going on.

I identify with so much of what you said. I want so much to make these beautiful spreads and to be so good at planning out every facet of my life, but perfection can be the enemy of the good. Franken planning really appealed to me, but I hate all the gluing and as a special education teacher, I just don’t have time to devote to figuring out the perfect arrangement. I’m just going to stick to one catch all planner for work and my crazy home life and also making a crafting “recipe” book to try to keep track of all the creative things I want to do (when I have time),LOL! Excited to see what solutions you come up with for yourself. 😀

I'm happy to hear you embrace your limitations. We all have them. I have often been like you where I have big goals and dreams , but reality is vastly different. January is definitely not that time for me. I struggle with depression over all and then I have Seasonal Affective Disorder on top of that. So my goals in January are usually along the lines of getting through the day without having to take a 3-hour nap. But, I know myself and I work around that. Also, u use a big teacher layout as my catch-all, so I don't need to make any big decisions until July. There's lots if sun in July, so that's doable.

Wow! I so appreciate your vulnerability in this video! I've also been feeling overwhelmed by the amount of planners I have, and wanting to spend less time decorating, more time planning and doing! I love the questions you're asking yourself, and it really hit home for me when you said nobody can change their entire life at once. I will be giving myself permission to really work on the main thing this year (or even this season) and tackle things one at a time. One question I'm going to be asking myself as I decide on how to use my planners this year is, do I need a whole planner for that topic, or just some tracking pages? ❤Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! (That new planner is so cute I wanted to get it, even though I already just got married this year! 🤪And I did have a wedding planner, but really only actually used a few pages of it).

As someone else has already mentioned- I think the HP Monthly Layout would be really good for you. I just use the monthly for any appointments I don’t want to forget and then the other pages are just a running/master to-do list. I’ve worked that’s all I really need.

Great video. I use a vertical planner for my personal catch-all but prefer the dashboard layout for work. I have a wellness planner that I’ve never used 😂Maybe next year. I used to bullet journal and loved the freedom of it and how each monthly spread could be different. But I got too busy to maintain it so that’s when I switched to the Happy Planner. I do miss my bullet journal.

I so agree, there was a time I had 5 beautiful happy planners put medal discs I couldn’t wait for new year. Well I only used one and since I just stopped altogether. I’ve been using target pocket planner, no decorations, 100% function. Boring! So I decided to buy one The modern Farmhouse dashboard Happy Planner (it is very decorative) and a hobinichi weeks knock off, lol. So only 2 planners and possibly a happy planner notebook just for brain dumps, list. I’m happy with that 😃 Ty for sharing your struggles with your planner line up. I definitely agree with functional planning I’ll add sprinkles of decor 😁

This past year I’ve maintained one planner. I had a HP vertical but somewhere around fall I woke up and it wasn’t working for me so I randomly added in a dashboard and I love it. I did end up switching all my stuff to KoaP. I think I’m gonna keep the one dashboard and then possibly try a wellness/budget/faith combined. But we’ll see bc life is busy!

I’m only halfway through the video but I so appreciate what you’re saying and can relate! The last couple years I got too caught up, and had like 4 happy planners. I end up not using them, or missing important dates bc I can’t remember where I wrote them, yikes! I also tried out a hobonichi cousin and printables from makselife. I find that I like too many things but always return to happy planner bc it’s affordable and I’m used to the size, the discs, the layouts etc. I also relate to what you said about decorative vs functional!!! That’s a huge one for me. So what works best for me is using dashboard layout as functional, meaning very few stickers AND that’s how I do a weekly master to do list! Then I’m thinking to do a classic vertical for decorative, but maybe make it a memory keeper, and glue in photos of my daughter and special moments after the fact. I don’t think I can handle more than 1 real planner with my to do items. So even having a second one will have to be more like for photos and memories. Very possible I won’t keep up with that either though 😂

Habit tracking. I walked away from it. Was never consistent with it, so I let it go. I feel more joy and still get habits done more or less without the feeling of defeat from not getting things done daily. // You ARE so so good at creative planning! It is a pleasure to watch you take a blank spread and turn it in to beautiful pages.

I do track a limit of 1-3 things when it is something I’d write to do each day. In that case, it saves time and avoids “to do list” repetition.

I have chosen my line up for 2024. I use a classic dashboard as my catchall , a budget planner and a mini for on the go. However, after watching your video, I’m wondering if I should use a different catchall because in 2023 I wasn’t overly consistent in using it. I know 2 surgeries and Covid are part of the reason but I don’t think it was all of it. Time will tell. I’m looking forward to what you decide to use and how you will use them!❤

I liked the truths of planning that you went over in this video. I have seen videos of people having like 10 or more planners, a separate one for every little thing. And i felt like maybe they were doing that for the sake of having a purpose for all the planners they loved and got. But at what point is it overwhelming or "over planning"? Plus expensive. I use 3, and all old planners that i just re-date. I am unable to work, so can't afford all the new things. But I make it work for my needs. So great video!

Thank you. I get excited and overwhelmed as well. I would love to see decorative bullet jouranling. I think you can do it with the happy planner supplies you have. With filler paper or even sheets with layout on them. KZfaq channel How to ADHD has a few videos on bullet journal that might be helpful. Journal Away and Erin Smith have cute decorative bullet journal layouts that are cute.

I enjoy your thought process. I had to give up a mini because it was useless. It made me sad to not get that skinny mini but I stayed strong. I also shopped my stash and am using undated extension packs because if not now then when. That routine word is the one I struggle with now that I’m retired.

I experienced the same problem of overwhelm as you with trying to keep too many planners. I use HPs big Happy planner. I section off areas in the back of my planner for master lists using Staples arc system vinyl dividers. (They fit into the Happy Planner.) My categories for the back section include, personal goals, family, writing, spiritual, and reading. Within each section i list goals/brain dump lists. I transfer 3 to 5 items to my to do's when I plan for the week. I hope this helps. It has kept me on track without the stress.

Lol, I'm the one that posted in the bumble patrons page about buying 8 planners 😂🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️. I know there's NO WAY I'll use all 8. I'm having problems committing to one 🙄. I've seen so many videos about how to set up different ones for 2024 and frankenplanning, etc, but really need to sit down and think about how to do this. This video will help me tremendously! Thank you!! I definitely agree with you, when trying to change everything all at once, and expecting it all to happen immediately, it just won't work. I will beat myself up for days, weeks, even months, after completely overwhelming myself with all of it. I'm already overwhelmed! At this point, I think I'm going to try 3 planners overall. #1 - memory planner... I'm going to use the Bridgerton planner for this, it's absolutely beautiful, and I think the theme will work well as a memory planner. I've got the HP sprocket, and already take tons of pics, so it's time for me to do something with them. #2 - I picked a stress planner and the recovery planner... I want to combine these into 1. I chose these to help with my anxiety and depression issues, and in an effort to heal from my past traumas. #3 - may be a combination of a dashboard and daily for work... I have a very high stress, and demanding job that requires extreme organizational skills. I've tried so many things and haven't found one that really works well for me, and something I can actually stick to. So... I'm trying something else. 🤦‍♀️🙄 speaking of which, I'm also going to use a skinny classic (#4 lol), to have something on hand to pull out the night before work, as a quick reference to see what meetings i have the next day. The others, I may keep just to have on hand if i feel something isnt working, to try changing pages up, etc. Sorry this is so long. Thank you for all you do and share every day! ❤
