Condor makes an actually nice SAW pouch that is a bridge between the blackhawk and the marine issued ones. I have mine mounted just right of center on my plate carrier. It impeedes my pistol draw ever so slightly but training overcame the intrusion in a couple hours. Well worth the aggravation to double my magazine capacity on my carrier. I can pack 13 stanag mags into the set up as is plus 1 or 2 on the gun (coupled). Before we even get to adding mags to the battle belt were already at 450rds of ammo at hand.

Try stacking the 30 round AR mags horizontal on top of eack other in the 200 round SAW pouch. I can fit 7 mags like that it works great.

Thanks for weighing the bungie - I was concerned for science! Six .308 mags will weigh approx. 2 lbs. more than 6 x 5.56 mags and contain 60 rounds less. There's a tradeoff there somewhere. I believe SAW pouches (maybe not all) come in 100 and 200rnd. sizes. If you put 6 loaded mags in a 200rnd. pouch that's 4 - 6 lbs. hanging off one place on your belt - yikes! The 100rnd. pouches (3 - 4 mags) seems like the way to go. I like the size for lots of things.

The 100round pouches are imop the best for mags.. 4 ar15 or 3ar10 the ar10 will sit low but all you do is throw a piece of sniv gear in the bottom to push the mags up.. The 200rnd pouches are much better for other gear.. Either way you go you’ll want the super think ranger bands on the mags so when you remove one and they bounce around in the pouch they are not clunking and making noise.. Main reason for the 100 over the 200 though.. 8 lbs vs 4 pounds and easier to locate evenly across the system for balanced weight.. Even the 200s placed at 5 and 7 that’s a lot of webbing it takes up and a lot of weight and hard to get to.. I like one pistol size single row multi use pouch then a double rifle like the staggered with two slots and two elastic bands for rapid use.. Ithen a 100 to finish out the load.. I have a sumo that sits under the saw and rifle in basic tri fold so it doesn’t take away columns of molle.. on off side I like the exact same setup but the double mag is ifak then a 100.. That’s columns rows each side evenly setup.. I can load my 6+1 and have the other 100 for gear or go heavy to a 10+1 setup.. Behind that that leaves just enough room for two Nalgene pouches with small admin zipper at 5-7 and then an old school Gi but pack at 6. I prefer the Nalgene over the canteens cause they hold more water and take up the same space and they make the same cook and cup kits for Nalgene as they do for canteens.. If I need a different setup I have a large padded gp, 200rnd and a gas mask pouch that can go at 4-5 instead of the Nalgene and 100.. If I have to I can go 4 100’s no Nalgene for more gear and strap a small bladder to the harness webbing.. Imop the British have the best setup and I’ve done my best to copy that.. they more or less run just 100roun pouches all the way around with a field pouch at 6. And it’s not that they are running all those mags.. it’s that the 100’s are better at serving multi role purpose wo being stiff and bulky when not loaded to max as the softer 100’s will compress down and help keep things organized over multiple pouches vs the larger 200 pouches.. I have a 30” waist and because of that I only get 20 columns to work with on a small belt and even then some of them are infront of me cause the belt literally comes all the way out to the buckles.. I’ve had to think very hard about how and where and what I use because I have 4-6 less places to put things or can’t use the first couple sections for much cause they are infront of me not on the sides so I couldn’t do a big pouch first anyways.. so try and make the use best I can to get the 100’s at 3 and 9 Only thing I don’t like is I’m stuck using a crappy old school drop leg multi use holster because I simply don’t have the space to run it off the belt wo sacrificing a lot of other stuff.. My gun belt setup fir use with a plate carrier is much more typical but with a deuce setup it’s lot more function then it is high speed and I can still really plus up and run my entire deuce under my carrier still like the Brit’s do and I still have pouches in it if I really need to plus up but really by then we are getting into where rucks would be way better suited The key to everything though and is always overlooked by anyone who’s not spent a lot of time down range.. nothing matter more then having proper acu cut shirt and pants.. half the stuff people are trying to put on a chest rig, plate carrier or belt should actually go on person in the various pockets.. nav, signaling and survival stuff, etc.. thar stuff should always be on body not in removable kit..

RM: For my M1a1 I use the od BAR ammo belt, works good for me but it is very heavy when you put 12 mags in it. I doubt it would work in concert with your other gear. I us it as a stand alone mag belt with butt pack and 2 canteens and IFLAK

Im great full 4 the different saw pouches including the calibers respected weights, but how to balance 5.56/7.62 carry with hydration, sustainement, mess kit weight in any pieced together with a entry/budget kit, ect...
