Particularly useful if you are choosing your first VHF Yagi antenna. We give some tips and then review one of the superb Dual Antennas that covers 2m and 70cms with a single feed.

I have the Dual 144 7 ele and 432 11 ele dual feeds and during that recent lift that Peter mentioned I worked many stations over 600 miles away on both bands (FT8). The aerial is slim and the neighbours have not made any adverse comments. I would recommend a Dual, they are easy to put together and look the part. Nice video Peter.

Excellent aerials, I love my PA144-432-19-3-2CB dual feed aerial, it replaced a 10 element Wisi and a 19 element Tonna. I can now hear stations and beacons I have never heard before. I also have a custom 8 element for 2m made by Goran for 144-148MHz (DATV on 146.5MHz), SWR is 1.2:1 @ 144 and 1.3:1 @ 148, got 59 from EB8 with 10w from Cumbria. The best vhf uhf aerials without doubt.

I’m late to the party, having just come across your channel. How high was this Yagi mounted and do you think it would be a good antenna for a single repeater I want to hit?

Hi, arials are down in the storm . Am considering this dual band. How do you rate compared with LFA 5 ele and diamond 15ele (2/70cm) which is what in considering replacing. Enjoy your videos Peter, keep it up. Thank you

Thank You for this. It's giving me more ideas about how to employ my 2 meter radios. Question, how much power were you using to make those contacts? How do you think using only.5 watts would fare with this antenna? Thank you in advance.
@watersstanton

I was using 100W - BUT - under these conditions much lower power works. One Dutch station was running 10W into a 2 element Yagi. The only real advantage of power under these conditions is that you move up the queue!! Also conditions move fast so often you can work a station that others can't hear.

Great educational video. I am new to the hobby and I am trying to find the best suitable solution for a Yagi antenna, to use portable on summits paired with a handheld to experiment the limits of transmitting low power from 0.5w to 5w. The goal is to try to hit repeaters up t 200Km almost line of sight across the English Channel. What would you recommend light enough to carry in a backpack and easy to deploy? Thanks for sharing such great content.

You dont indicate the band but you simply need to choose a Yagi that is transportable. Fir 2m that probably means 5 elements max. Remember the antenna must be rotated so elements are vertical. 73 Peter.

Great video, around 6:30 you talk about the narrow BEAMwidth of the antenna, but flip to saying BANDwidth several times while pointing with your hands... might be confusing...
@watersstanton
@watersstanton 3 жыл бұрын
Yes my error - slip of the tongue - read beamwidth for bandwidth.

Good, informative video. Its on my list. I used a portable style 5 element yagi made of PVC tubing and rods during this opening. But now looking for more solid base VHF antenna. This seems ideal and well priced. Could you also add links to a recommended coax cable for VHF/UHF . Thanks. M6KOG.

ON VHF /UHF THERE ARE SOME RG213 H100 AND SOME VERY LOW LOSS COAX. ESSENTIAL ARE THAT YOU A L L W A Y S USE N CONNECTORS FROM VHF UP TO EHF! ELSE IT WOULD GET VERY LOSSY! 23 CMS IS EXTREMELY SENSITIVE OF *THIGHT COAXIAL CONNECTORS*! 23 CM 16, 23, 32, 46 OR 63 ELEMENTS ARE AVAILEBLE AND STACKING TWO OR MORE A B O V E AND BESIDE EACH OTHER ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! USE CORRECT S C POWERDIVIDERS WITH 2, 4, 8 OR 16 OUTLETS! "MOST BANG FOR THE BUCK"!😀
