He was an unknown Australian actor, acting in a movie that went basically unnoticed at the time outside Australia about a figure that's obscure outside Australia, he didn't actively campaign for it (a key condition)... Not every good, or even great performance will get an Oscar. If you listen to KZfaq, they should give about 20 best actor Oscars a year. Who cares anyway. The movie's here for you to enjoy.

I don't know why it took me so many years to watch this movie considering I'm an Aussie and already know so much about the infamous Chopper but decided to pick the BluRay on a whim and was blown away with Eric Bana's performance. Really incredibly well done film even if it can get extremely unsettling a few times.

If you loved this movie it's worth watching Mr inbetween. Ray shoesmith is also a great crim character played to perfection.

Fairly logical argument from Chopper 'Why would he shoot a bloke, bang, and then put him in the bloody car and wiz him off to the hospital - it defeats the purpose of having shot him in the first place' 100% logic from Chopper

Eric bana came into the restaurant I work on recently , such a nice guy so chill and appreciative , I had watched black hawk down 3 days before he came in , not knowing he would turn up , I thought to myself after I watched it , “how cool would it be to meet Eric bana?” Boom there he is in the flesh !

Watched this film at least once a month when I was banged up. This and the Sopranos kept us going.

Damn remember this from my 20's great film, Eric Bana was great in it. 20 years wow where did they go. My Wife has probably not seen this so its on re-watch list

Eric Bana's Chopper and Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast as Don Logan have to be two of the most genuinly intimidating and frightening characters I've seen on screen.

@@oliverhunter9495 And how could I forget the great Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector and Javier Bardem's psychopathic killer in No Country for Old Men was chilling af. Also, Jack Nicholson's decent into madness in The Shining is a masterpiece. So many greats! :)
