Today we’re setting up the brown on our beet chopper. Doesn’t all go exactly to plan.... after a small hiccup we’re soon back chopping.... also have quick look at our beef bulls.

Hi Gerry.I've a feedall free standing chopper here and I've found it hard enough to drive with less than eighty horsepower. I normally drive mine with a hundred horsepower tractor and it works it at it's ease and doesn't throw out the beet too far. Great video as always.

Would you not put some sort of container under the beet chopper and the pull it out or use pallet forks or bale spike, it might be easier and tidier, but I don't do any sort of crops on my farm so I wouldn't know a whole lot about arable farming.

Hi Gerry, What's the reason for having the animals out of the yard or slaughtered before they reach 2 years old?
5 жыл бұрын
It's mainly because of money, you think about it these beef cattle are ready you can tell by the curvature of the backs, he's pumping feed into them and not getting the return because their daily weight gain will slow down to about half, than it was say 6 months ago, so feeding them is costing him a decent amount of money, and also at that weight if some of them have defects like heart problems, at that weight it's putting more pressure on their heart which could potentially kill them, which if one drops he's lost money, so it's ideal to get rid of them before they reach that point to get the most money, it's like a calf you would mainly get rid of them before 42 days old because at that point you will need to get them tb tested which again costs money.
@gerry6420
@gerry6420 5 жыл бұрын
Yep what Miley says. One the go over 24 months, you then get less money for them as their classed as old bulls

Rev er round the corner look depends what your looking for... much u wana spend. Size tractor u want. What ever u buy, pick one with as low hows, well minded example you can find. It’ll pay off in the long run. You buy something good now... it’ll never be worth any less.
