That is such a STUNNING plant!!! I have to say, when mature, the marble queen is one of the most beautiful plants I have ever laid eyes on. And, to think, you can buy them for $10…. Amazing! You have done such an awesome job with this specimen, Melissa. You definitely should be proud. New subscriber here! You’re soooo soothing to listen to. My little Marble is in water (no roots yet!!) so I’m at the very beginning of having something like this. I had no idea the leaves could get this large!! I’m basically new to taking plants seriously as a hobby. I have so much to learn. Thank you, I can’t wait to see more videos from you! 😘 Edit: yaaaay!! I just noticed you have a St. Auggie shirt on!! That’s like 25 min from my house. I freaking LOVE going there!!

As a slow-talker myself, plus having ADHD, I appreciate & relate to this on several levels. Lol I played it at 2x speed, ADHD brain able to keep up with it, not feel impatient, and fully appreciating all of the minor, seemingly insignificant details she included! 🥰 Plus her calm voice is soothing. Even at 2x speed 😆

Hi, have you seen Sydney plant Guys video where he takes the top and bottom pole together in the pot and allows the smaller vine to then climb up the extension so the next chop would have both vines growing on one pole. I hope that makes sense. Another option instead of having to thread the roots through the mesh :). The update video is called Double the Impact. Beautiful plant btw :)

Wow, I can't believe how big her leaves are. So pretty. I love watching people attach plants to moss poles. It does look very tedious feeding the roots through. I maybe out of my mind but I wonder if a crochet hook would help pulling the roots through the holes. I may try it when I cut up some of my poles. ☺

If you don’t use endo mychorzial powder GET SoMe! It decreases shock and is like steroids for your plant. It is absolutely amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve found it on Amazon and at my local nursery the brand I typically find at my local nursery I believe it’s called plant success organics. I also add it onto the top of the soil before watering once a month.

Wow!! Wow!! That third leaf down is amazing!! The dark green on the one tip graduating to sea foam mint green an then yellow with green fleck it’s stunning!! I had some roots that didn’t go in the pole so I took little pieces of damp moss an out it on top of the roots an then pushed them through the mesh, worked pretty good. A lot of work but she’s gorgeous 😍😍💚 pS Green Escape has 6 in Beauty Kim.

You have the patience of a saint Melissa! She is so beautiful. I’ve watched you grow her and you should be proud of how far you’ve both come! It’s been so fun to watch. Thank you for sharing all the good and the bad. It’s relatable content. Im a little behind you in that my most mature poles just got their first extension so my next step will be to chop. My question is, how can you ensure that both vines will climb at the same pace? Shouldn’t the top cut be shorter than the bottom since the bottom has to push out new growth, vs the top cut just continues to grow? Wouldn’t it make more sense to just use narrower poles and Velcro them next to together?
@plantsbymelissa
@plantsbymelissa Жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can't control the growth. I start my poles with cuttings usually and one vine tends to grow way ahead of the others to support the plant. It's easier for me to chop where the two poles are hooked together for stability. I don't know how stable two poles side by side would be once you grow them taller. It shouldn't take long for new growth to emerge from the chopped portion. Another thing is not chopping too much away because the taller vine needs those roots to support all of its growth. You want to be careful so that you don't lose all that beautiful growth you grew and all of that time you put into it. My first pole I chopped (my adansonii) shocked and I thought I was going to lose it. But that's the fun thing as well is to just experiment and see what you like for you. There's no right or wrong way :)

Love it. You did an amazing job. 😊 I live in FL and a few months took a vine from a tree on the street (public space in the middle of nowhere). I’ve been trying to grow a few plants since. These plants do not like our 24/7 indoor AC conditions 😢. I took my plant outside and I’m hoping it grows better in the heat (shade) as they prefer warmer humid weather.

If the plant is climbing up a moss pole it doesn’t need a big pot because most of the roots will actually be inside of the moss pole and not the pot. I know you asked this question almost a year ago but it doesn’t look like anyone responded. I hope this info was helpful.

Question - you have a cat! and all of these beautiful plants! How? Do you use something to keep her off of them? I have just started my plant collection and have them all up high so my cats don't eat them. I'd love to be able to have some of them on the floor and use moss poles. Please share. I feel so limited.

I also tried to save the bottom half of my Splendid. I cut the pole and placed them side by side. Then put the extension on the top. I have been guiding the vines onto the extension so that I can have a fuller plant. It did set her back some but it is slowly happening. Have you done this before?

Thank you! The cabinet lights are the T8's, I didn't see a color for them but it looks like a normal clear whitish light. And I have a question ,what would make vines on my marble queen go 1 leaf green the next leaf marble -all the way wown the vine?

And I want to add I think there was just as much roots as there were moss in the pole😅

Just random genetics! Some of my plants do this! My syngonium albo used to do this until I chopped it and my majula is giving me every other leaf to be variegated and all green. My adansonii variegata has one side that grows all white. That could be the variegation on the vine though it seems to be half white and half green. It's kinda cool but no telling what it will do or if it will keep doing it or not.

I ordered them from natures good guys. To be honest, I am not quite happy with them lately. I ordered some lacewings and it was a total dud. I am going to start ordering from evergreengrowerssupply and see how it goes there. They were highly recommended to me by several followers :) www.naturesgoodguys.com www.evergreengrowers.com

I don’t understood way you didn’t just cut the vine above the pole, why in the middle, it doesn’t make sense to me.

Do you lose any soil or charcoal down your drain when you shower plants? I'm curious because I do and I'm not sure if that's going to hurt the plumbing. Curious because I just ordered fluval and watched a bunch of videos that said not to let the dust go down your drains.

I use a strainer now over my sink to dump excess water over and it catches everything. For certain plants I water over plastic bins and anything I don't want down my drain or strained through my sink I dump outside (like the pon). I don't do this for my shower drain though so I am just careful if I am rinsing off plants! I usually close the drain and pick out any debris.

Twice a week! they dry out pretty quickly in my plant room since it's so warm in there. I let one water reach the soil and the other one I stop before it reaches the soil.
