Here's the next episode of Chordplay with 'The Chords of Rush.'
Needless to say, I'm a HUGE Rush fan and I really enjoyed putting this lesson together. Alex Lifeson is a prog-rock guitar legend for many reasons and has influenced countless guitarists and musicians over the years.
From his open-ended bar and power chord fingerings to lush-sounding chord progressions, extended chords, classical guitar influences, unique-sounding arpeggios, and much more.
This lesson takes a brief look at some interesting and expressive chords from a few Rush songs, and I tried to locate some lesser-known (or discussed) songs in the process. For a group like Rush with such a lengthy career, there are so many songs and albums you can choose and learn from, so this short lesson is really just skimming the surface of their music. From here, you should continue moving through some of the albums and music and locate additional chords, voicings, progressions, and ideas.
