Of course, she wouldn't be able to do reactions if she watches it early.

This song was chosen as the theme song for a new Japanese comedy series titled “Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games.” It follows female students at an elite finishing school as they fall in love with fighting games-the furthest thing from a dignified hobby.

The part where they dance wildly is "wotagei", a type of choreography in which fans sing cheers and show their excitement for the songs! Thanks for the video 😋

The part of the music I think you were trying to remember is "Whatcha Want?" by the Beastie Boys (MV reflects this substantially).

At the start, where they rap(sort of) with highly distorted vocals, and push their faces into the camera, I think the band you were reminded of was the Beastie Boys, who they definitely take inspiration from. It’s worth keeping that in mind when you look at the “dark” lyrics of this song. I don’t think it’s quite a real reflection of their personal angst, as much as it is an answer to the musical question, what if AG made a super-intense metal/rap song? My favorite bits: -Suzuka charging the camera -When Suzuka says “Sorry”, she chops her hand aggressively, like a salaryman cutting his way through a busy train platform -When she says “yakusoku” i.e., promise, she holds out her pinkie - the pinkie promise is a recurring theme in their oeuvre, indicating their commitment to each other and to their art -Mizyu’s pigtail flip when she has her last head banging moment near the end. It’s even better in the MV version. I’m totally not obsessed with AG. Really.

Yeah, Mizyu's headbang hairflip in the official video is absolutely great!

Yeah the distorted vocals sound like Beastie Boys or somewhat like Rage Against the Machine

The young ladies did do a short cover of Intergalactic, and they collab with Money Mark on a couple of songs.

Some extra context, the part of the dance with the spinning arm movements, their dancing is similar to the types of elaborate dances that japanese idol group fans will sometimes do with lightsticks at concerts (though usually not quite at this tempo)

In reference to the description on your vid, what genres do you think you'd be interested in should you ever decide to branch out? Is there like a specific genre or era you've not seen a lot of choreo from?

The whole contrast between fun sounding music and dark lyrics is something that has been a common occurrence in Japanese pop music for a while now (especially the vocaloid ones). If you do enjoy that quite contrast quite a bit, you should definitely check some vocaloids out! :D

i am using a translator This is the theme song for a Japanese live-action drama. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/os5ifsh0nrSlnGQ.html Gaming is an act that is never allowed at one of Japan's leading girls' schools, girls' schools. However, the battle is strongly desired, and the story begins to move at once from there... "Now, winning is everything." The choreography for all songs of ATARASHII GAKKO! was jointly produced by the four members.

Since their collaboration with Money Mark their work has been full of reminiscences of the Beastie Boys. In the official video to this song, the color distortions, the distorted rap passages and the bending down over the low camera are strongly reminiscent of What'cha Want from Check your Head. I'll even go so far as to read their name not as new school-leader, but as newschool leader, as next chapter to the oldschool of the Beastie Boys. And i'm also totally not obsessed with AG. Of course.

I heard an interview where they said they had already decided to do their cover of Beastie Boys “Intergalactic” before they met Money Mark, so they were already big fans, it seems. About the name, I’ve only seen it mentioned once, by another KZfaq commenter, but Busta Rhymes original group, back in the day was called, “Leaders of The New School”. That commenter claimed to have seen a picture of Rin posing with a copy of their album. Like the Beasties, they were definitely having AG-style fun in their videos.
