I live in a small city just outside Toronto to save money on rent . I take the train into Toronto . Omg . I cant go out at night . The bars are full of criminals. Fights . In the day time the homeless and druggie are all on the streets . The good part is that I save money to go on a nice vacation every year . Thailand is next .

I’ve lived in Chorley all my life, it’s not perfect but it’s home. Worked all over the North West and there’s definitely worse places to live than here…. Some areas are rough but others are pretty nice Moorland and woodland within walking distance of town centre… friendly local people and plenty nice places to visit nearby, I’m happy living here but I have to agree with a lot of what you’re saying Overall a fair representation of my home town but can’t expect its the most depressed place to live in England, most people I know are content with life 😊

Chorley may be the most depressed place but Blaenau Ffestiniog has to be the most DEPRESSING place in the UK, it rains 366 days a year there. The highlight is their annual coach trip to Bala to watch the traffic lights change. They are so interbred they all have webbed feet.

My Uncle Billy was a bit of a recluse and he moved down to Chorley a couple of year ago, sadly passed away the other day. I always wondered why he moved to Chorley as it is such a random place, but it looks like a lovely, quiet town.

Chorley didn't look too bad. Go to Sunderland. The town centre has Mowbray Park known as Rapey Park. The civic centre is a monstrosity which cost a fortune and has never been fully operational since opening. The shops are gone. Gangs of bored immigrants and groups of cider heads are your welcome. It's the hemorrhoid on the arse of England.

You've down played the size of Chorley. It has a population of 41,000 not 30,000. These surveys , supposedly measuring Happiness or depression are rubbish, and a way of bashing very ordinary towns like Chorley. Demoralisation tactic.

Population is well over 100k not 30k. It used to be a vibrant town in the 80s/90s with a great nightlife with people coming from miles around for a night out. Now it's all crappy micro bars with half the pubs turned into flats. The police station really needs demolishing it's gotta be the ugliest building in the UK.
