THIS. After trying for so long to connect, make the first move, say the first word...I've recently done the polar opposite, protecting myself to those that don't deserve me. I am an amazing friend and have so much love to give and realized how precious my time is and will never people please again. Keep in mind, when Christ was on trial he chose silence, I believe this is because he wanted people around him to understand the full depth of what exactly was going on.. It is important to speak your truth, and cleanse your throat chakra, however, being reactive is something else entirely. Some people will only want to get a rise out of you, to the point of physically altering your bio-chemical structure, forcing a response. The goal here is to keep in mind, silence does hold power, and can be a impenetrable shield in the face of situations designed for your downfall.. Not to mention the other benefits layed out here including the political advantage it can give an individual. Everyone Loves a Chatty Cathy, but on a deeper level, it is often what is left unsaid that can initiate the greatest change, both for the positive, and negetive.

Dogs always bark, slaves moan. You warn and influence people with your action not your speech. Talk is cheap, however story is gold. Being silence is about to say things only when it's necessary, and if you have to, you must be fully aware what you are talking about, and be as simple and articulate as possible.
