I ordered this unit May 2, 2022 after watching reviews like this one that made it seem like a great purchase. My unit arrived December 8, 2022. It worked great Day 1 and 2, within one week it was squeaking loudly every time it operated. It fit my 7 pound Tortoiseshell well, but our 13 and 15 pound cats have a tighter fit. Plus there is no way to keep zealous scooping cats from ejecting litter all over the floor, I purchased a guard fabricated by another ChouBox customer. By December 20th, my unit was occasionally getting stuck in its rotation cycle. The month of January 2023 found me troubleshooting CONSTANTLY to get the box to scoop, there were errors and it was stopping midscoop, preventing my cats from being able to enter it (one customer's cat almost got trapped IN the unit as it closed with her cat IN it... oh yeah.. the sensors don't always work... the app told me my cats weigh 0.00lbs numerous times). By February 7, 2023 the unit became completely unresponsive to any troubleshooting attempts AND the ball leaks urine down onto the waste bin (customer support says to remove the door to the bin... which allows the smell to escape the unit). WORST PURCHASE I have made in at least the past two decades. 😖😖

One big problem with this compared to the litter robot 3 is that it doesn't have a front guard. Theres bound to be a tonne of litter being chucked out from there judging by the opening design. One of my cats had the habit of peeing over the edge until I got the guard piece for the litter robot 3. Having a plethora of sensors is also not a good thing as it means more chance of one breaking then next thing, the whole machine don't work. A shame, was looking for an alternative to LR3 as it keeps breaking. It does look a lot nicer but in practice probably won't be better

I'd love to get one for our new home when we move. We have 2 Litter Robot's the second gen. We were happy with them but they are so finnicky when they cycle. And they do not hide the smell well at all. 1 I have to go to every few hours to make sure it's not stuck in the middle of the cycle - and if it is , the opening let's out the most wonderful odors lol - love the style and compact nature of this , definitely want one for our kitties.

Hey Philip, I demoed my unit in the video a few times but the timing of the self emptying is very slow right now due to the sensors needing to be tweaked since this is a very early prototype model. They spoke about this issue in the live stream when they demoed it. I believe this might be the issue most people were having. That said, the safety sensors do work well and the features work fine but they need to calibrate the timing and sensitivity more. As for your previous comment, I have certain keywords flagged due to the endless amounts of spam I receive in the comments. I just approved it so it should be visible soon if it isn’t already. I’m sure you know how it is on KZfaq with bots and other spam. Using these filters is the only way to keep the comment section somewhat clean.

@@OT4Tech thanks for replying. Not seeing a cat use it or a full cycle just worries me. The campaign ends soon and they claim delivery in May. My extensive experience with these things, both good and bad makes me more concerned than most. Not seeing a single cat use it and then a full cycle was the main one! I don’t blame you on being hesitant. I can only go by the info I received from the PR company and Choueer themselves. Holy crap, The price tag on this at over 800.00 also makes it the most expensive automatic cat litter box. That's over 100.00 more then the top of the line litter robot that comes with stairs and a mat. and almost 200.00 more than the Petkit pura max. Thanks for the review though.

Occasionally, but nothing out of the norm. Sometimes the cat litter will stick to their paws and they kick to get the litter off and a little bit will get out. But it’s not frequent and it’s not a lot.

You need to use clumping litter, which would be absorbed by the litter, then it turns into balls which will sift out during the cycle.

Any updates on the box? How do the cats like it? Are there any issues with the low level of litter in the box? Have they urinated/defecated on the grate causing any issues? Does the odor control still work for you? I'm on the fence on taking a chance ordering.

I’m still waiting for my production unit. This was a preproduction unit which needed to be returned after my initial experience and video. Once I receive the new unit I will do a follow up video.

A nicely done promotional video. Before we spend our hard-earned money, can you tell us are there any downsides or negatives to this product? Any reasons why it might not be for everyone? Do you actually have cats yourself?

I stated in the video that the cats belong to my camera man and good friend. He used the ChouBox for over a week and informed me of his experience. Plus, I would visit frequently to check on it. This was a pre production unit so it had a few bugs. We are getting a production unit once they are available. I will do a follow up video once it gets here and we use it.

Be very careful when buying this litter box as there is no real return policy. Their return policy is ONLY for unused litter boxes. So if you have 2 cats and one doesn't use it, you're out of luck since the box has been used by the other cat. They will not accept returns for used litter boxes. That's a huge difference between reputable brands like Litter Robot or others that are available on Amazon. I was about to order this product but stopped when I read the return policy.

The company has no customer service response, my unit is 4 month old and is inoperable. It became notify nearly from the beginning, customer service did not respond. Now it only makes noise and does not scope. Buyer beware! I’m now in negotiations thru Purchase Protection, BBB and attorney general.

My wife purchased the original one it broke with 2 weeks. Got a replacement and it has never worked properly. Always saying it can't find the box. Squeaks loudly anytime the ball moves. Terrible product stay away from.

Don't buy it.. Finally got this litter box 2 months ago, it was having issues of scooping. Everytime the machine started scooping, always will get stuck and can't finish the whole process. So, They sent me a new one, the same problem showed up. It can not be used at all.. we have to move back our old litter boxes. We contacted Choueer again, they said they're trying to upgrade the machine and make a new one since not just us having this issue. However, they don't know when they can finish the upgrading, so we have to wait AGAIN. They will not send me a new one since it might has the same problem. Now, I'm asking for refund, and they replied me they're the aftersale group, can't process refund. But, they also didn't offer any way for us to apply for a refund. Not recommended at all

@phillip bloom That’s terrible. The Choueer just has a live stream the other day showing the ChouBox and they have assured me multiple times that it’s happening. Additionally, I’ll be getting a full production unit soon for a long term review and test.

Go ahead. Name the competition. As long as you are honest, they can't sue you. I ordered one day it became available. Told the kids this was the last hope of keeping the cats as cleaning the litter box (litter maid) was getting to be an issue. If this does not work, the cats find new homes

That’s insanely cruel to your kids, not to mention the cats themselves. If you get rid of pets that they care about, they’ll ALWAYS remember it. Just get better at scooping and frame it as a team effort.
