CHP, CAL FIRE, State Parks, 3 Helicopters respond to OCEAN RESCUE

First responders rushed to Laguna State Beach north of Santa Cruz Monday afternoon for reports of two people requiring rescue in the surf. Upon arrival of first responders, one person was out of the water, however one victim was no longer in sight.
As of 8:00 p.m., the second victim has not been located, and is still believed to be missing per first responders.

Talk about a great Mutual Aid response! However the sad reality in these cases is the chances of survival and probability of detection (unless one makes it to land) lessen as the time goes on, regardless of how many resources you have for the operation. :( On a side note, I was happy to see that at 1:07 it was another Ram out performing the one that was stuck, as opposed to a Chevy or Ford. Slow and steady gets you out of jams like that...

Depends on consistency. If it was a chevy, it wouldn't matter how dry the sand was. Would've barreled right through.

That's a normal California State Parks Ranger, I just think he had rescue equipment on his truck. California State Park Peace Officers have two sub-designations: Rangers and Lifeguards. Both have the same power (state peace officers), however lifeguards have the trucks with lifeguard on them, and have advanced training for medical, lifeguards, search and rescue, etc.
