@@behindthen0thing525 well it's a good thing he doesn't consider himself the greatest. Also disagree about him pushing himself. He jumped into a band as a drummer who couldn't play drums, so he had to learn along the way while trying to make the band work. He is where he's comfortable. I'm sure if he started like most drummers do, woodshedding hours and hours BEFORE even thinking about being a band, the outcome may be different.

@markhynes5160
@markhynes5160 3 жыл бұрын
@@deadmoonscriptures1556 it doesn't mean nothing. It is not as significant as straight practice and technique, but to say that pre-existing knowledge of another instrument or (especially) music theory means nothing is just wrong. Someone with an existing understanding of how music works and it's general structures will certainly have a better start than a complete beginner.
@deadmoonscriptures1556
@deadmoonscriptures1556 3 жыл бұрын
@@markhynes5160 I think you misunderstood me; my point was that it doesn't matter where you are in comparison to someone else on your musical journey. You can gather all the knowledge in the world, if you don't put it into proper dedicated practice it will never yield results. His thoughts regarding others progress in relation to his own is what "means nothing". I will attempt to be more clear in the future.

I started listening to them right after they became LoG and it was the first metal band I liked because of the drums

I am a Guitarist but love drums and to find out Chris was only playing the drums for 10 years when ASHES OF THE WAKE was released makes me really glad i switched to guitar back in 1980! His playing is devastating for a guy that only has 10 years into it on that record!😲😱
