Magnifique ! Si j'avais connu en écoutant ce Merveilleux Artiste et sa Formation, je l'aurais FAIT Jouer lors des Obsèques de Ma Petite Femme Chérie, Yvette. Je reste Son petit Mari, ainsi qu'Elle le disait. Ce GENRE de musique AIDE les cœurs et âmes en peine. MERCI. Daniel. (de Toulouse, con !).

Chris is the man! Loved him and Ottilie since 1960 when me and a hut full of British Squaddies discovered them. Relaxation and Trad Jazz are therapy transcnding earth's dull cares.

Well said Sir, Iearned to jive to this music in 1960. Still jive,but just a bit slower to the beat. Perhaps because now I am 78 years young,and the legs c,ant keep up to the beat. Thank You for your Service and ALL the other Squadies. God Save the Queen.

.Niekedy koncom 70,alebo začiatkom 80 rokov Chris Basrbers Band vystupil tiež v malom okresnom mestečku Trnava v akulturnom dome nar. podniku Kovosmalt Trnava čo v Trnave bol medzi mlladežouj velký potlach Samozrejme sam , ako mlady človek a fanda tohoto žanru hudby som na tomto koncerte nemohol chýbat. To boli časy...,...Caje o péci,,,,,,,......mladí ludia .,..bolo veselo, družne , bez maryšky ale s Mariškou.....Spomienky 83 ročného starého sopliaka. Dobre už bolo Slovenskooo - Amen

A huge influence on myself , my dad before me aswell. Great musician , I asked him what his opinion of Jack Teagarden was , his eyebrows went up and his reply was "one word genius" But you can believe that was not the end of that discussion , my claim to fame is I've tooted a few notes through that mouthpiece and man oh man its sharp, he gave me some excellent advise and to me at 20 yrs of age his word was God.

His legacy lives on 💯% us jazz players here especially in Britain his Tribute Chris Barber band contains some of the best Britain has to offer like Mike (magic) Henry and Bob Hunt on trombone they were part of the Barber outfit as he was coming to the end of his career and wow what a career it was Chris himself had quite a lot to do with the evolution of British music as a collective , huge influence on myself

It's New Orleans very much influenced, there is a tune that fits its called "where the blues was born in New Orleans " Louis Armstrong with Kid Ory on trombone tailgating style

Chris Barber ist für mich ein Genie, für mich die beste Jazz Band und seine speziellle und typische Art zu spielen haben mich fasziniert, vor allem seine wunderschönen Blues Nummern. Wir haben ihn beim Konzert in Basel am 27.Februar 1992 im Stadtcasino bewundert, ich habe dort 2 CDs gekauft mit Autogramm von ihm. Unvergessliche Zeiten. Er war und bleibt ein Juwel = Klenot.

His legacy continues with guys who are capable and excellent players like Mike (magic) Henry and Bob Hunt. Chris contributed so much to the evolution of British music scene it's uncanny , thank you so much Chris thank you RIP 🙏

You won't see this kind of music played for much longer -live. Where are the young ones coming up to replace/replicate the likes of Barber, Ball, Bilk, Lyttelton etc. And you certainly won't anyone like these men on that Jools Holland!

Why isn't the name of this great tune listed? BOURBON STREET PARADE! Written by drummer Paul Barbarin in 1955. A staple of dixieland bands!

Thank you indeed. It was about 15 years ago when I moved to San Francisco and heard Kenny Ball's Midnight in Moscow on AM 960 when they played music. That led me seek out his videos, and then I stumbled upon some videos from 1992 when Chris played with Benko (I can't seem to find them anymore). Anyway, I got hooked on all the incarnations of the Chris Barber Band, but this concert and the one from 1982 by JazzManJoe 100 are my 2 favorites. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d8B-oqR8uM-vmZ8.html I can't believe such magnificent music existed for so long and I hadn't discovered it until I was in my 40s.
