All 3 guys looked amazing. It just came down to the look that judges wanted to see and I think Chris Bumstead embodied the classic physique look perfectly.

IMO, Chris has a much better and more aesthetic structure (broad shoulders, narrow waist). And personally, I prefer taller physiques.

If anyone was robbed it was Shawn Rhoden. If he woulda came in exactly like he did last year, he woulda easily won again in the open class.lol I would be so pissed if I were Shawn. He not even convicted.

1. It was extremely close on points, which was reflected in what we saw. 2. Breon was very humble and said “the better man won on the day”. 3. They were only seperated by 1 point last year, both came in improved this year, but Chris came in more improved. 4. The judges were pretty clear about why Chris won. Bigger is better, and Chris has an extremely classic structure 5. Chris is a cross between Zane and Arnold. Breon is great, would love to see George move to Open

I noticed Bumstead looked a lot better when they were just standing there relaxed, not posing. I guess it's his bigger wider bone structure, he just looks better from the front and back when relaxed. Breon sure can pose though, and his flow is fantastic.

Chris is what a classic physique should be.

I think people throw the term robbery around too much. This was a close fought match. Both looked phenomenal. CBum has more mass and arguably a more "classic" look, while Breon is more complete with a better back. Take your pick, but me personally, I like Bumstead's physique, and think his win was deserved.

I think if the focus is conditioning, this was bs, but if the focus is posing and a classic, aesthetic and beautiful physique, this was the right call

That asian dude that came 5th was a huge surprise. He came from 14th place to top 5. If he continues like this and master his vacuum he could easily be top 3

Chris legs aren't better than breons he is just structurally bigger. Chris is not a better bodybuilder than Breon anywhere. Breons legs are much more deeply separated and conditioned

Let's get things SIMPLE HERE. 1. Breon = Not a classic PHYSIC, it's a downsize open guy 2. George Peterson = Not classic, it's a downsize open guy. 3. CBUM= CLASSIC PHYSIC GUY FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. IT'S GOOD TO SEE FINALLY WE CAN DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN CLASSIC PHYSIC AND OPEN, BEFORE CBUM WIN TO ME THOSE 2 CATEGORIES WERE SAME SHIT WITH JUST A WEIGHT limit difference. PD: CBUM MUSTACHE WAS EXTREMELY CLASSIC!!

Chris Bumstead finally nailed it in the heads of the judges about what to look for in a classic physique. The previous couple of years it was apparent that judges had no clue what they were looking for. The definition of Classic Physique has been set right this year and hopefully bodybuilders in this category will know the requirement ;) Bumstead rocks - period! Wish him to remain on top of this success for years to come ;)

1. It was great seeing u at ur booth last week! Me and my wife highlight of the whole expo! 2. Bumstead won. Was it a robbery? No. But you can see both sides. Bumstead hit vacuums. Yeah it’s not mandatory...but at the end of the day...it captures the attention.

Big fan of Ronnie because of his personality, but sorry, Jay Cutler body was more pleasant to look at. Same with Breon and Chris. Per bodypart, Breon is better, but the structure of Chris is so much more pleasant to look at.

isnt it classic physique, and he is the epitome of it, because of things like height and shoulder to waist ratio - just unbeatable. his conditioning was also very impressive, even though he had less muscle than the other 2, but this sends a clear message from the judges that this is what classic physique is about, its good imo

It was a decision, not a robbery. This video makes a good assessment of biceps peaks and back definition. The old champ could have retained the title and I could see the judging looking ahead to next year. The thing that strikes me is Bumstead has some killer poses which exploit his natural gifts, and he doesn't have a bad pose or a weakness that takes away points. I think these two men are the epitome of bodybuilding.

I think Chen Kang definitely earned respect. Man got his visa to US 2 days before the competition and had to travel across the sea to compete and got 5th. His quads are amazing

The judges wanted to make it pretty clear what direction the division is headed to,you will definitely be rewarded for being the most conditioned & most muscular but the most "aesthetic" guy on stage will take the crown,even if he is like 5% less conditioned. And i think thats exactly what we needed, otherwise it would just become a smaller bodybuilding show.

Chris deserved this win. His "x" frame structure, combined with a classic vaccuum, improved conditioning, and the fact that he simply commands the stage with a WOW factor and classic aesthetics is why he did. While Breon and George certainly looked well-developed, their midsections are much too thick and blocky, which ultimately takes away from their OVERALL physiques. Sure they had thicker and more developed backs than Bumstead. Breon had the best biceps, sure. But you have to look at the athlete, not purely by body parts, but as a whole as well. Who is more pleasing to look at? Whose body would you rather have? That's what it comes down to. Somewhere down the line in bodybuilding, the emphasis of a beautiful physique embodying a blend of muscularity, lines, and aesthetic proportions and flow (60s-80s and some 90s) was replaced with a "freaky" physique that emphasizes conditioning and size. Of course, this has been more prevalent in the open class, and that's not to say that's all Breon and George are, but CBum, simply put, is just the key that fits the lock. With Chris Bumstead taking this Classic Physique Olympia title, I'm truly hoping this will set a new standard for competitors to come.

I was at the Olympia and bumsteads stage presence was stunning. He stood out from everybody else.

I don't have any problem with Chris Bumstead winning the title. They went for more classic Physique. But if that's the case, how the hell did they place Peterson higher than Keone and other way more classic guys? Don't come up with 'conditioning and muscle maturity' bullshit. If that's the case then Breon had better conditioning and muscle maturity as well.

Judges made a statement. Classic is about being classic. I understand why people say Breon should win, because his back is more developed and biceps are better. But if it was only about who has better bodyparts and not the overall flow with classic vibes. George would beat them like little children.

The Vacum Pose is what gave Chris that extra point to win..I dont think it was robbery either..Chris looks good all the way around..

Chris just made a staple in what classic physique looks like. He’s gonna own this division and he’s only getting better each year..

I listen to recaps of bodybuilding shows, it’s amazing that such an emphasis is how, in this case, Chris looked better than last year as oppose to how Chris looks compared to Breon this year.

Chris definitely deserved the win on this. I believe all three of the top guys were at their all time bests and i just dont think anyone can beat Chris's frame. He is so aesthetic and has better lines.

CBUM had the best chest and shoulders. Breon had the best biceps. Peterson had the best back. All had good legs. But the thing that set CBum apart was he has the perfect body structure for classic physique and he had the vacuum pose down to perfection. Breon and Peterson looked a little more blocky in the mid section. CBUM deserved to win.

I honestly think Breon is too complete to lose. Chris has more flaws... Where does Breon improve? He's as close to flawless as a 5'7-5"8 180 lbs bodybuilder can get

Chris has the most appealing physic of all the kids

I think what sets Bumstead apart is his frame. Taller, longer, broader shoulders just looks more aesthetically appealing. But for that same reason I can see why people would think it was a robbery because there’s nothing you can really do about your frame. The other competitors aren’t getting any taller. The way your muscles sit and look on the frame you’re dealt with isn’t 100% up to how hard you’re work regardless of how conditioned you are. But hey such is life. I’d personally trade 20 pounds of muscle for a few extra inches in height any day of the week if it were optional.

He deserved to win. Dude stepped out of a time machine from 1976. And I honestly see the early beginnings of bubble gut in the other guys.

Agreeded the improvement that Chris made is what won him the show. The judges clearly have been wanting Chris to win for the last 3 year( clearly that is the look they want, I will even go as far to say that they want a reactive of Arnold lol tall, long torso , wide af, big quads, and big muscle but not crazy density) i get ppl are upset but beside Breon n Chris the top 6 ppl are not what they are looking but they are soo good as “bodybuilders” BUT have a crazy small waist, vacuum, make weight, and etc. the weight and height requirements is what is destroying the class. It has been said a thousand times just because you make weight doesn’t mean you should be in that class. When talking weigh I also feel this kills the tall competitior. I have not read the rule book only seen the height to weight limits but doesn’t it make sense if you are 6 foot or above the harder it becomes in this class. Scientifically the taller someone is the more weight FACTORS are involved. Are these taller weight to heights accounting from organ weight, bone, soft tissue(not fat or muscle) is all just bigger, not to mention the water for a body that big to function on is different. These VERY short guys are able to brig a maxed out density and muscle from legitimate to legitimate and completely full af and make weight np. I believe Chris is maxed out on weight but clearly need more muscle even with managing the classical look to be tit for tat with Breon. At the end of the day I feel The judges are not going for a maxed out look that everyone is bring in to these show but that what they have to go for because they are soo many competitors that have so many different structure I feel it screws the judging. They are trying to recreate the classic look that means that they are looking for the body that doesn’t look gasses out because back they they didn’t have all the great knowledge and technology we do not so have to most amount of muscle you could possibly fit on your frame might not be the look they want. With all that being said Breon is the perfect classic physics even though I’m a BUM fan.

I think its over for breon because what else can he do he came in conditioned and a good size for his structure. Chris had height and better structure so if they were the deciding factors its pretty much over for breon

The decision was like picking between cookies and cake, they both are good, but you prefer one over the other just a little bit.

Bumstead has a way of showcasing his physique, your eyes were drawn to his posing. He really showed his strengths in my opinion.

Breon and George are world class bodybuilders but Chris just has the look.

Not sure I understand the qualification of Chris getting an extra point as relevant, as if him making improvements was enough. It implies Breon would look exactly the same as he did the year before, which he didn’t. His arms and back are more developed, has a crazy taper and more muscle and definition in his abs, which is surely more valuable than a vacuum. He came in sharper than last year so idk why Chris improving means he deserved the win, when Breon improves as well

Honestly when they are that close and because the division is still really young, I think it comes down to the judges deciding on which physique they prefer to be the ideal shape of the classic division.

No Breon was not robbed, CBum simply executed the CLASSIC vacuum pose. That won him the show, Chris has the better v-taper and has a better overall physique

This class was made to rejuvenate the bodybuilding audience by going back to a small waste and vacuum pose. It is the anti bubble gut, square waste, pouring over the posing trunks class. This dude has an awesome physique not found on many guys his height.
